So far, my "old fashioned" flip phone has suited me just fine. I make calls, I receive calls. True, the camera isn't that great, but I have a digital camera for that purpose. Not as handy as the one in a smart phone, but I get by. 😉

For me, Tracfone is all I want and need. You do not lose Data, minutes, or texts, they all roll over to the next month. Data 5 gigs, minutes 3500+, texts 6300. It is a phone + camera mostly for me. As you can see, I don't use it much, just as away for my close friends to contact me. Pet peve, I hate to hear a phone ring. I'm upgrading to an LG with Oreo O/S (android 8.1) in a few days. $80.oo is all it cost, and it does what a $1,000.oo phone can do. To me, it is a phone, camera, and maps are useful too.

Sounds like a great phone on a great plan. I guess I will just have to call myself a lover of current technologies. That's stinks but I just can't seem to get away from wanting the best. Even as I type this it makes me mad but I have much bigger issues to deal with than what phone/camera/GPS/search engine/ stock tracker/ weather app/ restaurant locator/ campground finder/ movie reviewer/ banking app/ investment provider/ Lowe's, Home Depot supplier/ music player, Sam's Club self check out app/ satellite TV locations app, what the heck. If anyone thinks a phone today is a phone they need to crawl out from under that rock and acknowledge what is available today with the most advanced "phones".

Yep, my Tracfone/Verizon LG Stylo3 4G/LTE phone running Android 7 (Nougat) was $60. My wife and I each have one, and we average about $16/mo using annual plans.

I went from an S6 to an S9+ and paid that $929. Decided to pay up front, it was marginally cheaper than paying X dollars per month for the phone. Also, the s9+ has a larger screen and my eyes are not the best.

I wanted to keep the S6 but Tmobile couldn't move it over with the 55+ plan we wanted.

Frankly the older flip phones would be my go to - larger batteries typically paired with a larger transmitter. Not many companies make those if at all.

But properly outfitted the S9+ will last me 2 days if in mid power saving mode. Nothing like the week my flip phone from years ago would last, but considering all the electronics in it... not bad.

The camera on this one is outstanding and I enjoy taking pictures so I forced myself to buy it. All about your priorities. I'm sure mine will change later.

i'll keep my S-5

I got a basic phone for my dad for $40. He can make calls, text and get his e-mail. It's not good for anything more complicated, but it's all he needs.

I use my "phone" (not really "phones" anymore - let's face it, they're little computers now) for work so I get the more expensive higher-horsepower versions. But like I said, at the current prices I'll keep my 2-year-old phone for as long as it continues to work.

What's a Jitterbug? It was a simple Samsung Tracphone. Money only goes so far, and when the choices come down to fuel for RVing and motorcycling, or wasted on a semi-useless device like a cell phone...well the decision actually is pretty easy.

I just got done paying for mine. With the cost of new phones these days I think we're going to be together for quite some time.
