TV antenna

After many years in a RV park, we are going roaming. We would like to see some TV on the way Eg news. What kind of antenna do we need? Ours is 12 years old and never been used. Thanks

There are many out there who sell antennas they CLAIM are better than the Winegard Batwing.. they lie.. (Well most of 'em but... read on). I've seen some for sale for 100 dollars that.. Well they were 20 dollar table top UHF bowtie antennas from a local hardware or TV store.

Now there are some monster antennas NOT designed for sustained high wind (Designed to go on a tower at home) that are better but they are not practical for RV,

If You have a Winegard Batwing (Sensar II or III) consider getting the Wingman (UHF Director array) and adding it, about 30 bucks. if you have a Sensar IV (Wingman already part of it) you have the best there is.

If you have a 'Jack' antenna.. it is good but not as good as the Winegard.

IF you wish to make additional improvement the Sensar Pro from Winegard works with both the Jack and the Winegard antennas and adds additional amplification to the incoming signal. It replaces the wall plate with the switch LED 12 volt outlet and Antenna connection easy DIY install.

Get the add on attachment that Tom M referred to. You will have the best antenna you can get IMO.

If you already have a TV antenna then you don't need another one. It works the same as any other antenna. Some people will try to tell you that the switch to digital TV means you need a "digital" antenna. Don't take advice from such people.

Use what came with your RV.

You do not need a special antenna. The crank-up Winegard Sensar IV (aka Batwing) is considered one of the best TV antennas for an RV. If you have a crank-up antenna it is most likely a Winegard and it should work. If it is an older Sensar III there is a snap-on attachment available that makes it the same as a Sensar IV.

My factory installed cheapo knock off antenna works fairly well. Try your’s before you replace. Don’t discount on-line streaming of local TV news.
