I'm currently lost, need to take a break, since I cannot get to first base with Dishpointer.

Just bought the app

When i touch the camera - AR View, I get s message that I must turn on location services. So I touched location and enabled internal and then done, but apparently that did not turn on the location services.

Where am I missing the boat.

I tried to find a dick and jane youtube but did not get a hit on one of that type.

thanx

As I posted above this is a very useful app. You can easily precheck a site for non portable sat blockage or find a location for a portable dish.

There are 2-3 software bugs that I was able to work around. There are also requests for additional support and devices. The author posted several times that the updates were coming. But he has checked out with no updates for several years. And the pro app is overpriced at $20 IMHO.

Hence I recommend you check that the app will work on your phone before purchase.

I'm guessing we have more tree cover in Florida than out west.
I have been setting up dishes for over fifteen years, a dozen times a year with a compass, meter and common sense.

The $6 app is way easier. Look at the picture posted. The app is great.

These sat finders used to be about $6 until everone started buying them.

Satellite finder.

OK, you need three items. Compass, sig finder, and common sense. Dishes can be moved around to go through the hole in the trees. That is the purpose of having a dish not mounted on an RV roof.

Why DTV took the beeps out of their HD receivers is a mystery to me.

I'm dropping DTV when this one runs out.

That looks sooooo easy!!

Maybe it's time I discard my Tailgater and start manually aiming a dish antenna--I've developed a heck of a Beer Belly aiming the Tailgater.

This is just so easy... Nothing else is close. Then with a manual setup you fine tune the dish.

HD sat boxes don't beep. Dishpointer superimposes the sats on your phone screen using the camera. Augmented Reality. You point the camera at the southern sky and you can see the sats on the screen and if there are trees you can find a place with no interference.

There are YouTube vids and vid on their website.

As MrWizard wrote, the App is asking you to turn on your GPS services. The App needs the GPS to determine your current location and then it can display the satellite locations.
