What do you use for websurfing outdoors?

I haven't seen any tablets with matte screens (and the glossy ones are pretty much impossible to read in the sun).

Laptops are getting few and far between.

Some ereaders have basic websurfing capability -- but are any of those e-ink, or are they all glossies?

Am I the only one with this problem -- do you folls all go inside to do computer projects?

My current matte netbook is on its last legs and I am trying to figure out what to replace it with.

(Edit: If you are not a fulltimer and don't need to do normal internet stuff like pay your bills while camping, well, I already know you are more deeply connected to nature and superior to us technology-using camperfolk. You don't need to mention it. Just let the rest of us talk about what computers work best outside.)

I like to check the weather, maybe check email, and certainly read e-books outside. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. It's not quite bright enough to read in full sun, but is fine in the shade. Glare? Have you considered matte finish anti-glare screen protectors? I've used these on several tablets. Makes them as easy to read on as the paper white dedicated readers.

Majority of times if you have the sun hitting your tablet you will eventually get a temperature warning, I know especially on my iPad. I think you should sit in the shade if you want to use your tablet or computer outside..

I don't web-surf outdoors. So many other activities to occupy my time while camping. Beside, most public park campgrounds that we stay at don't have internet service. At couple we can't even get a cell phone connection. Ahhh, peace and quiet without any interruptions, nature at her finest. :B

Yup. Bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab a couple months ago. Great screen resolution. I usually have brightness turned way down for most applications.

I can't even use my I-phone in the sun. Unless I am under a good shade or it's night, it's inside for me.

Thank you, Don :B. It is always helpful to have the correct terminology.

Hi Naio,

Screen brightness is measured in nits. You need 2000 to be usable in the sun.

That's good to hear! How is is with sun shining directly on the screen? That is the norm for me, 3/4-timing.

Technology or nature, I don't do both very often. At home I sit on the porch with a kindle, off with the MH and I don't need the internet for very much.
