Windows tablet recommendation

Anyone have a Windows tablet? This will be a gift for someone who asked specifically for a Windows tablet so no need to suggest any Apple or Android based tablet. She has a very nice Toshiba Ultrabook and would like a Windows touch screen for email and internet surfing. I would like to stay at $400 or less.

I just ordered the Surface 3 through Best Buy. You can get their Black Friday deal of $100.00 off today by using promo code SURFACE3DEAL during checkout. Since I have the Surface Pro 3 that she always is borrowing at home I think it will be a good fit. I never use the pen and she does so she can have that and she rarely uses the keyboard on my Pro 3 so I didn't get the keyboard. If she decides she wants a keyboard she can always buy it herself :).

I see Costco.com has a good price on a Surface 3 w/ 128GB, w/ keybdcover, w/ pen bundle for $599 good thru 11/30.
Although it is $200 over your budget, someone else may be interested.

For the best overall experience, I would also go with the Surface Tab. They have mid to high end notebook processors. We have a bunch of them in the office.

I did buy a 7" WinBook W8.1 tablet from MicroCenter for $59, though running quad-core Atom processor similar to NetBooks. Does have full size USB, and micro HDMI out. But limited on board memory for WIN OS.

I got a look at Wal*Mart's Black Friday ad (you can buy any time Thanksgiving on line or in the store if you like crowds.. I won't shop in store Thursday).

They have a 2 in one (tabled with detachable keyboard) for under $100.. and that is ALL I know about it.

Even the Surface Pro 1 and Surface Pro 2 came with Win 8. My daughter uses a Surface Pro 1 as her main computer. It has an i5 cpu and runs Win 8.1 effortlessly. I prefer my Surface Pro 3 but the Surface Pro 1 is still a decent machine.

Good to know about the earlier Pro versions. Thanks.

I highly recommend the Dell Venue 8 Pro for a small tablet with a great-looking screen. This tablet is as powerful as my previous-generation laptop. If you don't need a tiny tablet (like I did), get the Venue 11.

The MSFT Surface gets great reviews for screen quality, but as said avoid Win RT.

Don't buy a Surface 2 or older tablet that has the Windows RT operating system.
Windows RT 8.1 only runs built-in apps or apps that you download from the Windows Store. It cannot be upgraded.
The Surface 3 or higher has Win8.1 or 10. I have a Surface 3 and it'll pretty much do anything a laptop will do with better battery life.
The Surface 3 has the Atom processor which is surprisingly fast and good on battery life. The Surface 3 pro has the i3 or i5 processor which is fast but uses more power.

I have the Surface Pro 3 and love it. It looks like Best Buy will have the Surface 3 for $100 off on Black Friday which will make it hit my $400 target price. I also found out that if she decides to occasionally use a keyboard the one for my Pro 3 will work on it even though it will be larger than the one for the 3. Still looking but the Surface 3 is looking promising.

We found the QVC and HSN TV DEALS to be a great place to purchase the computers deals being offered that usually come with many additional added features and software and support. Most of the computers are the latest DELL or HP units...

They have the extended payments with no interest deals as well.

We have finally replaced all of our computers and tablets now using them...
