We are pulling a Holiday Rambler Presidential (heavy RV) with a 2007 Diesel 2500 GMC and wondering if Hwy 26 from Casper WY to Jackson Hole WY is a ok road to travel on as far as mountains and grades.

There are two fires in the Jackson area:

http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4864/

Click on each fire symbol and you can read about them.

One near Dubois on 26/287; one near Bondurant on 189/191.

Check inciweb.nwcg.gov and the name of the fire is Lava Creek fire.

I just came back from the Grand Tetons and I took 26 out of Grand Teton down to 287 into Rawlins where it hits 80. The portion of 26 I was on wasn't bad at all, of course I was heading down hill. There will be some grades once you get closer to Grand Teton but they aren't bad at all. The wind River Indian Reservation is long and boring, and make sure you keep the fuel tank topped off. There isn't a lot going on out that way. Once you actually get into Grand Teton and start heading south to Jackson Hole it's almost completely flat.
