Need generator advice

We have a car hauler with a 50 amp male plug, and a Powerhouse 6500 Generator with a 30 amp 120V receptacle, and a 30 amp 120/240V receptacle. My question is:

What type of adapter do we need, and which of these receptacles should we be using??

Sorry....I admit I'm new and a little frustrated...LOL

What height should I use??

Now that you've learned to post pictures you need to learn to make them appear smaller using the height parameter.

Did you check your breakers and reset them?

Yes...there's something definitely wrong. The guy that looked at our generator said that he was powering two A/C units, lights, fridge, etc. with this adaptor, but when we took it back home to our trailer, we got nothing. Was hoping there was a switch or something we weren't thinking of, but I think we're doing it right

Well now you've got me stumped. You have the right adapters thats for sure but the output from your genset is not enough to power your ac. Something really weird. It looks like its splitting the 25amps to both legs. The other (3 pronged adapter) worked but then didnt?

Then, when we took it in to the shop, he recommended that we get this:

When we hook this one up into the right receptacle, we switch the top to 240, and we can run the lights, but nothing else. When we try to turn the A/C onto low cool, the generator shuts down, and the red overload light comes on.

I think that you'll need the adapter that I posted last. 4 prongs at one end 4 holes at the other.

OK...we were first told to do this:

Bought these two adaptors and plugged it into the left receptacle. Everything ran great for three days, and then it started to act up.

Do you have anything else running beside the ac? Water heater etc? Looks to me that your gen is not able to keep up which is strange because at 6500 watts it should.

Yes...when we switch it to the 240, it will run the A/C for about 2 minutes, then shuts everything down.

Did you check the output on your gen?

Well...that's what's weird. We had a couple different adaptors--one to convert from the 50 amp to a 30 amp 3 prong, and plugged it into the 3 prong 30 amp receptacle, and it powered everything just fine, but starting acting up after about 3 days.

We took it to the shop, and he told us we had the wrong adaptor...so charged us for another adaptor - that goes from the 50 amp 4 prong to the 120/240 4 prong adaptor, but that won't run anything.

You need to be using the 4 prong 240v/120v outlet. Your generator may have a switch labeled something like: 120v only/240v
It will need to be set to the 240v setting.
Don't let anyone tell you that RV's aren't 240v. An RV 50 amp connection is a 240/120v connection.
If you have an adapter to connect your RV 50 amp male into the generator 30A 4 pin and the switch is set right I don't know why you would have a problem except maybe you're overloading the generator. A 6500 watt gen. is only capable of supplying half what an actual 50 amp RV circuit can.

You'll need a four pronged adapter for your gen which will give you a 50amp female at the other. Got it?
