Replacing taillights

I have an older trailer and I want to replace the stock tailights with LED or something brighter.Is there a problem putting a different light then what was stock on an older trailer or is it just plug in a new one

I think the TT would have to be really old to not have socketed bulbs in the tail lights. Pull the lens, if the bulb comes out the base of the bulb should say what type is is... probably 1157 if dual element, 1156 for single. Once you know that you can lookup LED replacements.

If the bulb isn't removable (never seen one myself) then wiring in a complete replacement unit should work fine.

One thing to check, if your TT is really old it could be 6volt, could also be positive ground. You'll want to know that....

It's probably not a "plug in". But you can splice in a plug in connector to both your existing wiring and your new tail lights and it will be easy to change them in the future.
