Can a 07 Sport Trac V6 2 WD be Flat Towed beyond the recommended 50 miles without disconnecting shaft as Ford manual says? Any experience?

We had an '07 4x4 bought to tow a trailer. After a couple years of that, bought a Class A - sold the sport trac and bought a CRV. Apparently the mod isn't too difficult but I couldn't find anyone here who had done it - I also wanted the lighter toad.

The short answer is NO. Unfortunately, all 2WD Sport Trac/Explorer cannot be towed 4-down. They do allow a short distance (you said 50 miles??) so you can get it to a shop if necessary, but you cannot use it as a toad.

I towed our 05 everywhere for a couple of years. Ford had a kit you could add on that cost about $30.00 that would put the transfer case in netural. It had to be 4 wheel drive.
