Considering replacing floor coverings

I'm considering replacing our floor coverings with some sort of hard surface material. What do I use to trim the edges of the slides so they look nice when extended? The slides are currently carpeted, and the carpet extends a little past the edge of the slide's subfloor and overlaps the main floor. If I use tile or laminate, how do I transition from the slide to the main floor? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your comments & suggestions. ClayL, do I understand correctly that you left a small strip of carpet as a transition from the slide floor to the main floor?

Thanks again.

I cut the carpet in front of the slide so that just enough was left for me to staple it down securely. I was afraid that it would catch on the slide as it moved in and out.I used baseboard on the slide to hide the remaining carpet.

I also put flexible door sweep strips behind the baseboard to prevent small pebbles, rocks, and paper clips batted under by the cat from scratching the flooring.

I replaced all of the carpet on the slide with laminate.

I changed carpet flooring to vinyl and the carpet on the slides has the original overlap as it had before. I was told and I believe you cannot put a hard floor on the slide and have a good transition, so it remains carpet. There may be RV's where this is not true but I cannot afford them.
