BIL put down laminate, but when he had a leak it swelled and warped. Even after it had dried not all of it went back to original size and shape.
We tore up the off white carpet in our fiver last summer and put down vinyl plank flooring. There are two different types to look at. The first has glue strips that glue together and is a floating floor. The second is what we put down and that is click together vinyl. It is also a floating floor. The vinyl is mold resistant, easy to clean and best of all is easy to put down. I used a razor knife and a straight edge for the installation. We got ours at Home Depot. Will check tomorrow how it lasted the winter with the temp changes. The colour we chose looks like reclaimed barn board, so it also hides any crumbs ot dirt until you have a chance to get out the broom.
