How much to ask?

I'm replacing my dinette and love seat with a new love seat and free standing table/chairs in my fifth wheel. I'm going to advertise it on Craigslist, but I have no idea what to ask for it. It came out of my 2010 Sunset Trail with an 11' slide, and is in pretty good shape. Any suggestions?

Start at $500, you can always go down in price, harder to go up.

What I often do with Craigslist ads is test the market.
I'll search for a similar item for sale to check worth, then list for what I think is a fair price.

When I get tons of calls I know it may be either really wanted or priced too low.
Low or no calls I remove the ad for a week then re-post with a lower price.

Sometimes this tickles buyers who might have seen the item, but didn't call.
When my ad reappears often I get more callers and usually sell.

I sold the couch/loveseat out of my '06 Cruiser for $100. Had immediate replies to the ad, and the 1st one to show up with the cash got it.

In your ad, be sure to show how much a NEW couch or dinette would cost someone if they bought it from a retailer. That can be a huge selling point...

There are lots of people out there that don't want to mess around building custom furniture, or driving around measuring "house" furniture to see if it fits. Being able to cheaply replace worn out RV furniture with better condition RV furniture is what they are looking for...

You have to look at it as lower end used furniture. It may be an upgrade to the buyer, but there is little value beyond the prices realized at a thrift store for similar items. What it came out of and how nicely you kept it up, means nothing to a buyer. If it's damaged it may not be worth the hassle of listing.

On the other hand, specialty items that are custom built can be worth a lot more. An air-ride chair with Italian leather and 12 way adjustment may be worth 50% of retail, but a dinette is a dinette and worth less than $100 in my area.

Unless its something that's really special, its just like everybody else's RV dinette and love seat. And most of us hate ours already and would like to replace ours with something else, like you're doing. ๐Ÿ™‚

There is an RV section on CL that you can advertise it in. Anyone with an RV that is looking for something will look there. Maybe others here never would and wouldn't pay, but some people do buy older units and fix them up. I would start the dinnette seats/table at $100 obo and the love seat the same unless it's some wild print that no one will want. If it's somthing neutral or subtle that many people would be able to use, then that would be my starting point. You can always pull it off and wait a couple weeks to re-advertise at a different price. Spring may be a better time though.

No I'm not looking to just get rid of it. I would like to make some money from it, just not sure where to start.
