Lock for B&W Companion hitch

I have a B&W Companion hitch. I'd like to lock one of the handles where it connects to the pucks, but I cant seem to find a lock that will fit. The diameter of the pin that stops it from turning is smaller than locks I've seen. What do you use on your hitch, and where did you get it?

No, I didn't. This is the locking handles on the mounting pucks. The 1105's have a 1/4" shackle that fit thru the holes. They also are wider than most locks with a 1/4" shackle. The 1105's shackle is to short for the handle however. It will go thru, but you cant't lock it. You would have to drill the pins holding the head on like Cummins did.

Did you have to do any drilling?

You are NOT going to find a padlock to fit those tiny holes. You will have to drill them out.

OK, went out and took new pics. Like I said bend the pins to 90 degrees. I drilled the holes larger to fit the small MasterLock. I also countersunk the holes, made the padlock fit better.

"A Lock"? More like a half dozen of them, none of which will even slow down someone wanting his hitch. I mean how strong can a padlock that small be? And if someone is willing to try and steal a 400 lb. hitch, I'm sure they'll come prepared. Not like hitch theft is a spur-of-the-moment thing. ๐Ÿ™‚

Let's be realistic. The head portion that can easily be removed is not all that heavy.

So maybe you should have quoted the part of my post which address your point. Basically, I want the lock regardless of how easy it would be for a prepared thief to steal it. At least I could tell the insurance company it was locked. And it weighs around 275 lbs.

I was fishing for a response from Cummins12V98 since I've seen pictures of his hitch with a lock. It stinks that I have to drill out the hole. I left my truck at a covered airport parking lot recently and although was not too concerned as I have a toneau cover, but just wanted the extra security regardless of the abilities of would be thieves who could get it if they really wanted it.

And, yes - it's a great hitch, although I'm still figuring out the best way to slide the fiver back when backing into my driveway. And yes, I need to slide it with my short bed Ram as I already put out the back window and dented the cab on my brand new Ram! It was flawlesly fixed by my local dealer though. Tough lesson to learn!

Good info here!

Dang...I was thinking of making a run for Club President in 2020, but now maybe not, as it seems current one is always a step ahead!:(
