Storage facility question

My previous TT was 7-1/2 feet wide and fit into my storage spot between two other trailers just fine. It was very easy to get it where it needed to be. My new 5er is 8 feet wide and takes a bit more skill to successfully get it in and obviously much tighter in its spot. I can barely get the door open enough to get inside. The extra width doesnโ€™t seem like much but when backing it in that tight spot it feels like six feet!
As most of us do, I am always looking at the newer trailers to see whatโ€™s out there. I have been seeing many new ones that are 8 feet 5 inches wide. I could never get this in my current storage spot.
Do those of you that have to store your trailer at a storage facility have issues with a trailer 8 to 8 feet 5 inches?

I would be shocked if you could even notice the 6" width difference if it was easy to back in before.

The new trailer is 4 feet longer and also a fifth wheel as opposed to a TT. Since the two types of trailers track differently that makes it different to back up and Iโ€™m new to fifth wheels so still in the learning curve.

That's probably your issue.

5ers start to turn more slowly but you can ultimately turn sharper. If the aisle is narrow, this can make it tricky getting the turn started at the right point.

I think the width of the aisle is just as important. Wider aisles give you more room to back in.

Yeah, I wish the aisle was a bit bigger.

I've not measured ours, but it's about 2 feet wider per side than the trailer. So 12 feet wide or a little more. Not wide enough to put down those stupid, ridiculous, inconvenient steps though. ๐Ÿ™‚

OP here. The storage facility is actually very good. Well lit, paved, wrought iron 6 foot fence, not chain link, and 24/7 entry with your own code. Just out of curiosity what do you think is the average width of any given space at any facility? 10 feet? 12 feet? I donโ€™t know as Iโ€™ve never asked anyone before.
I am going to see if they have wider spots.

The lot I store at has spaces that are 12 ft wide.

Look for a storage facility where you can store a diesel pusher. When we ask for that type of space, we never have a problem. We always take a covered space.

No issues with our storage facility. I think you need to seek out a better spot, or a better facility.

I do not have your issue. Plenty of room to get in and out. Slide too when others arenโ€™t present. Find another facility IMO.

When I had these same problems, I moved to another spot or different facility. Hopes this helps. Good luck.
