Supplementary Brakes

Just bought a Ford Focus Hatchback to tow behind our 30 ft. Class C. I've not had braking so far on the lightweight Sonic we pull but the Ford is a bit heavier. The shop who will set it up says the Blue Ox Patriot 2 is the only brakes they install. Anybody have it? Comments? it's $1500. I want one that requires the least input from me as far as set-up.

I went with the Ready Brute Elite and added the Ready Stop for my 2015 Foucs. I like it and it works good. Used the Blue Ox base plate.

I did the install of both myself. Worse part was running the cables under the car. But then I was on my back with limited space. Added a battery disconnect to the negative post as Ford says they want the negative removed.

I looked at the box-on-floor/seat options but I didn't want the hassle of storing it with the limited trunk space.

NSA's "ReadyBrake" auxiliary brake system only requires clipping a cable on an eyelet to be ready to go. I do recommend their "ReadyStop" breakaway system as well though, so that would make it two clips to connect, doubling the time from one second to two... ๐Ÿ˜‰

About $610 plus installation:
