This is where the Savannah river dumps into the Atlantic. OK for looking and watching as the ships enter the channel and come up the river. If you want smooth white sand and pristine waters, not a good place. Last time we were there, signs were posted about no swimming due to health concerns. If you think about it and the thousands of acres that are drained by the Savannah River Basin there is a tremendous amount of cattle pastures, poultry farms, pig farms and other agricultural interests that get flushed down that river each time it rains. This is along with runoff from streets in the towns in the basin as well. Fuels, oils, antifreeze and other chemicals that are spilled on the roads and get washed into Atlantic at the end of the river.
