We are planning a early spring trip to the grand Canyon in the ladder part of March. What is the risk of snow during this time. We have a 5th wheel trailer. Any insight would be appreciated.

Snow is pretty likely in Flagstaff that time of year.

Thatโ€™s high elevation country and you will have a chance of snow. Once youโ€™re there itโ€™s not a big problem. Iโ€™d be more concerned about a storm on I-40, that could shut you down for a few days. If youโ€™re going in March all you can do is watch the weather and have Plan B if you get caught.

We were there this April and we had snow. It snowed for two days and we felt it would be best to make accommodation and we stayed in the RV park an extra day. The many people in tents filled up the Kamping Kabins. It was cold, it was wet, and the 5 year old twins had a blast. We still drove up to the South Rim, even with blowing snow it was a great trip in the car. We stayed at Williams/Grand Canyon Circle of Pines KOA, we've been there a few times and I highly recommend the campground. Large indoor heated pool and spa, lovely playground, lots of really big shade trees. Bearazona is another local attraction that should not be missed. It is a drive-through animal park, where you can take all the time you want to slowly drive the large complex and see the bears, mountain goats, wolves, etc at play in open environments. There are many nice (not great but nice) restaurants in Williams, and if the weather is not perfect, and even if the weather is perfect, you can take the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams to the South Rim, walk around or take the trams to see the sights, and then take the train back. Truly we found the Grand Canyon more enjoyable on sunny warm days, but a day or two of snow will certainly not ruin a great vacation.

It happens, but it's rare that interstate will be closed for extended periods. Storms pass through and interstate gets cleared pretty quickly, just keep an eye on weather and as long as you have a few days to play with you should be able to get to the canyon. Have a great time!!!

Get on weather.com and you can get daily temperature averages for the whole year for Grand Canyon National Park. If you plan to stay in the park at Trailer Village you should consider making reservations right now. Even though you are going early there might still be camping crowds. Have a great trip.

Pretty darn good....We were heading back from Laughlin, though Williams, Flagstaff etc 3 years ago...hit a major snowfall. Stopped the interstae for a few hours. Been to the canyon twice in Feb....snow there both times. Not enough to bother with, but it was there
