Air Conditioner / Thermostat after sitting for 2 years

Further news in the saga of getting my 5er running after sitting for over two years:

- after pumping up to max the truck's 6 tires I decided to go into the RV and enjoy the air conditioning
- it's plugged into a house RV plug 30A

I started the bedroom AC and the fan came on. After sitting there for a few minutes I thought the compressor wasn't working.

I was on my way outside to hear what I could hear and the unit stopped. The Dometic multi zone thermostat was displaying E1. I had this once before when I had a problem with the generator and transfer switch. To reset, I pushed and held ZONE and MODE. Last time, that was all it needed to get working. This time it didn't display zones 1 & 2 like it's supposed to: 1 was flashing and 4 was on solid (I don't have a zone 4).

I've tried resetting several time, cycling the breakers to no avail.

I'm hoping one of you have had this problem and know the fix. Please?

Running those two AC units on 30 amp service is a sure fired way ti shorten the life of one or both units compressors.n you don’t have enough amperage.. keep running this way and you will be spending $$$$ for a new unit

How is the voltage with both running on 30 amps?

The problem happened with only one AC. My two ACs will run fine on 30A but I don't run them for extended periods of time.

two ac,s staring on a 30amp plug. might just have been a over load.

ARGHHHH! I hate intermittents!

I went out to the RV and noticed the bedroom AC was running. Odd because the thermostat is OFF!

So I reset the thermostat again and it looks normal.

I tried both ACs and they're running.

ARGHHH!

Next time the rig is unplugged, I'll unplug and replug the cables.

Yes, that sounds like a good suggestion. I wonder if DW knocked a wire loose when she was cleaning the bird's nest out of the other AC??

The "E1 error" - which is common - occurs when there is either a disruption in the communication from one or more of these cables, OR if there is a problem with the Dometic Penguin II AC control board itself.

Suggestion is to UNPLUG and REPLUG the cables 2 or 3 times both at the T-Stat and the A/C end if both ends are plug in type.

Oh yeah, over the two years, I ran the generator at least every couple of months and the air conditioners whenever it was warm enough - maybe 4-5 times a year.
