directv home and rv one account

I just got off the phone with an agent with Directv. I was told by the tech that wired my Winegard Satellite dish to tell them that I wanted a Genie and a client. When I talked to the agent on the phone I told them just that and the agent told me I couldn't have a genie because I already have one in the house. If I tell them I am going to put them in the RV they will try to put them on a separate account and I don't want that. Have any of you ran into this and if so how did you approach it?

Comcast at home, Direct TV in the RV. Can suspend the direct TV account when we are at our home base. Just call and have them reinstate, works good.

It is NOT illegal to have a box in your home and in your RV at the same time. As long as the home address is your and the RV is yours then this is perfectly OK. What is illegal, and consider theft of services, is using a receiver in your RV that belongs to your son or daughter at their home. Also, handing out receivers for family to use at there homes is also theft.

OP I move my Genie between the house and rig and if I had a Genie Client I could move it also. Only one Genie on an account is allowed as others have stated.

You can have a Genie and a non Genie on one account. But as stated you would be in violation if used in the home and RV. Plus there is another concern. If traveling outside the spot beam, generally considered 200 miles then you won't get the national programs in the RV. If you call to change the service address then the home won't get the national programs.

We watch very little live TV and our DVR and all recorded shows go with the receiver between home and RV.

If you read carefully, Bill, that's exactly what I said... Your son CANNOT watch a receiver in his house on your account. That is wrong. What I DID say is that if you have a receiver in your house that someone is watching at the same time you are watching in your RV, that is NOT wrong. I'm NOT OK with sharing receivers with your neighbors or anyone else. Read my post again.
It is wrong if Direct TV says it is.

BTW, I agree with their reasoning.

I take my dish box on the road with me.... But nobody is at home watching TV while I do so. That in my mind WOULD require another account.

Sorry if you disagree. But it will do you no good. Direct TV sets the rules, and they have the law on their side.

As I mentioned, some folks have no problem stealing. You can't fix that or change that.

OK. If you don't live with your adult son who is watching TV at his house and you are watching TV in your RV or your home then you are committing what is called Theft of Services and it is illegal. ALL receivers on any account must be used in a single household or in the RV owned by the person registered at that address.
Many folks don't consider it theft but it's no different than buying 3 receivers and handing them out to your neighbors so 3 households can share 1 bill.
You may be OK with that and that's OK. That doesn't make it right but then we have become a society where it's OK to steal if we can get away with it.

I have to disagree with this statement. I'm paying for satellite service. I have 4 receivers plus a Genie client. I can have 5 people all watching different shows at the same time. If everyone watching is a member of the same household, it doesn't matter where the receivers are being watched.

I can see what you're saying - if you have your adult son's receiver on your account and he's watching it from wherever he lives, that's wrong. But for me to watch my TV, camping, while someone who lives with me is at home watching TV, that's not wrong.

DTV will not allow 2 Genies on the same account. The main reason is that the home antenna cannot support the 10 tuners you would have with 2 Genies. You can, however, simply move the Genie from the home to the RV when you travel. If you are going to have folks at home watching TV and you will be on the road watching TV then you should be paying for 2 accounts anyway.
