Dometic A/C with Thermostat Issues

Dometic A/C model 640310 thermostat or thermostat control box appears to be faulty. This is a newer 2020 unit with an in-Command LCD panel and a separate thermostat sensor installed on an interior wall - not the more typical wall thermostat. The A/C unit cools fine when I set the cool temp to 55 degrees. As the unit runs pushing out cold 58 degree air, the displayed room temp reading drops. Once it reaches the mid 50s, the unit shuts off. It seems like the unit is reading the ambient temp somewhere inside the ceiling air box rather than from the sensor wire. When I hold my warm fingers on the sensor wire tip for several minutes, the room temp reading on the LCD display does not change making me think the sensor tip or the thermostat control box (Dometic #3313191) may be faulty?? Can anyone help?

maybe cold air leaking into the return air side?
