How do you drill a hole through fabric without the fabric getting wrapped around the drill?

I suggest you invest in a set of hollow punchesโ€ฆ they're inexpensive, easy to use, and work great.

Getting the drill bit hot with a lighter works well too.

Mostly in carpet I just cut a + where the hole is to be drilled.
I also have hole punches for cutting washers,

A good stiff tape. Tape the face of the fabric to form a more solid surface.

Drill in reverse. Better way is to use hole punch.

I usually cut a cross in the cloth before drilling.
