Been off for months. Woke up 0330 and have access via Niners S4. Home in bed. Awoke with a tad "discomfort" Dontcha love "Doctoreze" ans would love to give THEM a shot of "discomfort" with a baseball bat...

I spent a few hours yesterday working over Jim In Denver's Megawatt. Now Nicknamed Gigawatt. New choke, panasonic 105c Japanese caps instead of 85c originals. New EIGHTY AMP 150 PIV Schottky rectifiers instead of original 30's. Fired it up. 57 amperes into 12 volt load. Unit has 2 external fans now. 10x airflow. Putting in 11 position guitar click click click switch with 11 positions 13.3 to 14.8 volts. Using precision resistors. Color coded spectrum 5mm LEDs. Violet Blue Aqua Turqoise Yellow Amber 3k Orange Red White Flashing red/blue. Canopy overtop. 5.5 digit voltmeter One of Mr Wizard's inductive ammeters. 110c temp alarm shutdown.

Left arm in sling. Sure glad I made octopus + 3rd hand holder. Today comes the final circuit board precision resistor soldering job then the final assembly.

WFCO got mad at me. Blew 10 amp fuse. Replaced. Plugged it in. Blew piece of BiPolar transistor size of 2 stacked dimes. Hit my safety goggles. It's been stripped. Found ZERO heat sink compound on ultra cheap grade of Sil Pad. Sucker is the Yugo grade of converters. Salvaged the heat sink for LED project.

Beans and tortilla diet. Going to be an interesting month. Anyone interested in tech chatting

"People" are worried. Some of them, anyway. Corporations doing this are not. Try explaining to brain-dead electorate and their similarly bright nominees that communications today are same strategic resources as copper and oil. Some countries have banned the sale of strategic resources to foreign owners.

Sign a contract. Then some months pass with 26 days of no service. Either pay full boat or be banned from the unique monopoly forever. Loss of deposit and zero recourse. Slim has vampire bled companies like Trac Fone a USA company. Wait until he bloodsucks Verizon and AT&T. You people up there worry about sending USA jobs overseas while FOREIGN bloodsuckers are buying basic USA service companies. There is little doubt RV OEMs will be sold. Wanna example? USA Trace selling to (take a guess where from) Xantrex. Or is it Zantac? Is the foreign owned company as good as the USA company it purchased? Hahaha funny boy. Here Dunce Hat for you.

It's what he said - "rare service" :)... Now you see it, now you don't. But you do pay for it. Senor Slim is a top notch master trickster. With all those billions and trillions, vast areas of the country remain without ANY cellular or internet service other than individual satellite, expensive even by the US standards.

David, glad to see you back. Thought that you (and others) would be pleased to hear that we and the Jeep successfully transited your former part of the Michoacan Coast last week. Mind you the new one is a 2 door grey rather than a 4 door bright blue!

No need to contact Jim Lewis this year!

Continuing freaky connectivity...

540 mile long microwave tower relay to La Paz. Even though huge fiber optic cable passes 180 miles east at Sta Rosalia. TelMex says No no no no no landline phones. Only to businesses. Thousand dollar deposit wait six months and then get modem speeds like USA in the late eighties. Fifty bucks a month. But wait there's more! Cellular internet. Almost never works but nearest hardwired cafe is a 150 mile round trip.
Carlos Slime Helu the guru down here is snapping up telecomnunications in the USA like candy. His worth is FIVE HUNDRED BILLION USA DOLLARS. Wonder why USA telecommunications is going downhill? Carlos Slime I mean Slim is trying hard to becone the world's first trillionaire. With all the political turmoil a little thing like this gangster muscling into USA telecommunications is being (overlooked?).

Bigger cities have better service. But here, loading google can take 20 tries and a success can mean 20 minutes. After google is loaded a search is impossible. I cannot access Wells Fargo online.

You have a bandoliered scumbag running amok in usa telecommunications and is the ignorance of it a conspiracy? You tell me...

David ... I'm curious.

Does your thread title mean it's rare for you to have Internet service at all or it's rare for you to have cellular Internet service?

I believe the main ways to get Internet are (at least): DSL, copper coaxial cable, fiber optics cable, cellular tower direct, WiFi, satellite, wide-area RF. Our mountain rural Internet comes to us via wide-area RF.

P.S. Best wishes on a speedy recovery with no downside after-effects. ๐Ÿ™‚

Some folks here should start a Go Fund Me for Mex so he can get through this month on something more healthy than rice and beans. I'm not that smart, but someone else here probably is. The knowledge he provides here should not be free.
