The link below will take you to a store that sells CLAROSTAT 10-turn pots that would seem to be ideal for the power supplies. The item is halfway down the page. This would make resolving voltage settings a lot easier.

i don't know what works in Mexico
i'm assuming GSM like AT&T, because that is what you mentioned
LG had phones on for both verizon and GSM that were clam shell
they folded shut
but when open they had a "QWERTY" keyboard just similar to a PC
the keyboard is/was querty, but without all the extra keys a PC has

very good sound quality..verizon models were the LG9900, the LG ENV, and the LG Voyager

these were ahead of the curve when they came out
Feature phones..aka dumb..Not smart phones
but with full keyboards, good sound and easy to press keys (well easy for me)
now they call similar phones texting phones

i don't know the att gsm names for the same models

but one of these (in att GSM ?) might be the ideal phone, and pretty low cost for a 4yr old phone design

BUT WE ARE WAY OFF TOPIC
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

I agree to disagree on opinions of uses of the devices. But I will say that rooting an Android based phone is a wise use of time, in getting rid of or shutting off massive amounts of carrier bloat ware. Or buy a used International Model Galaxy Note 2 that is rooted and unlocked. Once rooted with Super Moderator powers, custom ROM's and kernels are the way to go to wring out much better performance out of your device. You can put Galaxy S5 and Note III features on a Galaxy Note II with custom ROMs. Not outdated at all!

I did. I compared the size of the keys on this AT&T farce to a head of a pin and the pin won hands down. By the way this "cellular" arrived after a 1,440 mile journey and the keyboard does not work. Press any alphabet key and two letters appear on the screen.

Don't know if they ship to Mexico but check out http://swappa.com/

I have a big family, before smartphones and Facebook, it was a whole day Saturday here and there to keep up. Now I can call sporadically because they already know I'm alive and what I'm doing. Sorry if you guys see this as the downfall of society, it's done nothing but improve my relationships with family and friends. If that means society is******then I'll take******ALL DAY, EVERY DAY.

I looked all over. Found scoops made out of hammered sheet metal, beautiful brooms (Adirondack quality), bridles, ox yokes, pretty much everything used. But alas no cellulars. I mean NO cellulars. Only those glossy black and pink new ones. 370 dollars. I specifically do not care about "AP's (what is an AP? Is it communicable?". I don't need ding dong reminders for power lunch appointments, internet, conversions from light seconds to angstrom units, a condensed history of the world, connection to 27 different email accounts.........ah.......jeez

Our daughter takes care of, and trains, the horse ... so we can spend more time maintaining relationships with our friends through elimination of too much brevity.

We don't waste a Saturday calling. We do personal mass CC-list emails to organize family events on full size keyboards without having to use soft-tip pointer-pens so as to hit the right keys.

Our rural grocery store clerks know us by first name and we often brighten each other's day with considerate and sensitive brief conversations here and there.

One man's BS may be another man's upper for that man's day.

We're retired so the days of needing to get home quickly are, thank goodness, a thing of the past.

Last night and today, for example, we spent many minutes custom printing out selected digital photographs and preparing good old fashioned hand-written personal cards ready for across the world postal delivery to children we help support in Ethiopia. You can't do this kind of human interfacing by texting on little tiny electronic gizzmo iWhatever screens. ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you want a smartphone, buy one used. A new one is not needed. Get one with a big screen. Samsung Galaxy Note 2. You can find them for ~$170 in good shape. If you like adventure, you can flash the phones ROM to the latest version of Android.

I think wasting one's time incessantly babbling on the phone when that time could be better spent being productive at work (while still maintaining a household) and keeping touch with family and friends (without wasting a Saturday calling everyone I know) has made society more efficient and effective. Not everyone has the time or desire to talk to the cashier at the grocery store. I'd rather get home quickly so I can spend time with the DW and our horses or maybe visit my grandson. And I'd rather not have the first 30 mins of that time spent talking about BS.

Yeah ... and texting - as the only, or at least main - means of communication may be part of what's "wrong" with today's society. And all of us, including myself - giving in over and over again to continue to do it will keep it from ever gradually fading away to obscurity.

Believe it or not, there still exists a vast number of us who still use email and voice communication to conduct our lives ... and consider these two means as superior.

The above is of course In-My-Relatively-Old-Man's-Humble-Opinion. :C

Trying to convince somebody that texting is convenient and to the point is the current definition of futility.

I've got a few older friends who adamantly despise it and berate people who text them, so much so that they demand their carriers not transmit texts to them. They now find that they miss a lot of gatherings, and people do not always respond to their phone calls. I have no Small talk Gene in my DNA, 15 minutes of pleasantries make me unpleasant.

What I dislike about texting is people who write perfectly punctuated paragraphs that eat up 15 texts. My sister does this. I really have no text limits anymore but back when I only had 200 a month on my older more expensive plan, I'd get all PO'd berate the sender, and soon find myself out of the loop.

Since I donpt do any Socail media like FB or twitter or any other similar thing, and people rarely call to transmit information, excluding texting as a viable means of communication is just too hermit inducing, even for this antisocial misanthrope.

Some of them have touch screens. Easy to finger keypad. Cost? 4-5,000 pesos. I Tried earphones with my AT&T whateverthehellitis, and sure made sound louder. I enjoy hearing "Murfle - maffle - umph - pssss" at max volume.

I cannot afford a 400 dollar telephone. I also cannot tolerate another seventeen dollar misdial (01) instead of (001) because I didn't have my dental probe and electron microscope.

I need to call about getting parts for the power supply and actually understand what the person on the other end of the line is saying. Yes, texting is valuable when data needs to be stored.

Got any ideas? Hint: My wardrobe consists of a nice selection of barrels with a few cracked stave's...

As far as I am concerned, I don't text. Waste of time for any conversation. I can call and speak 100x faster than I can text. It's a matter of efficiency. Phone is far more efficient.
I disagree. The important part of a phone call is maybe a sentence worth of words. The rest is polite and time consuming fluff. Texting is straight to the point. It doesn't get anymore efficient than that. It's also imminently convenient. If I need to know something from the DW, when I have 5 seconds, I can ask and get a quick answer. If I call to get the same info, I have to wait till I have time to set aside 10-15 minutes for all the "pleasantries". And sometimes I forget to call. When texting, when I think of it, I text. THAT'S efficient. Besides, I can't stand being tethered to a phone, I can't do anything else when I'm on it. Texting allows me to keep working while still communicating with the other person. And if I stop for 30 mins, the other person isn't offended cause they know I'm busy and vice versa!!! Case of beer to the inventor for the rest of their life.

I was a smart phone hold out for a long time. Finally when my old flip phone was not properly charging a new battery I switched carriers, bought a non subsidized Samsung S4 mini, and am paying less than a third of my old dumb phone on AT&T.

Call quality is excellent, internet browsing is easy and fast, but typing is an ordeal for me. Using the headset when talking for extended periods is very nice.

I should not have held out for so long.

I just wanna call my doctor. There are no more telephones. These gizmos are refined so the most acute hearing of a 10-year old is needed, the micro keyboard thingee is only a mere tad small for a chinese midget and the "menu" looks like a nightmare from a Korean businessman's favorite restaurant. But place a call and whoever answers is gonna sound like Donald Duck.
