Golf Cart Batteries

What is new in the golf cart world? My girlfriend wants to buy one to run around the paved streets in the RV park. Anything new in the way of battery or charging technology that she should look for? Low maintenance as well. There is an EZGO dealer nearby.

As long as she is buying it with her money, it doesn't matter once she knows what's what. If you are buying, then that's between you and her.

The tech issue aspect is quite clear. Second hand electic car with batteries you can recharge from the RV if the second hand charger it comes with doesn't work or wasn't even included.

I asked a Mexican golf course in Manzanillo about gasoline powered cars. Man that guy sure knew his "groserias" (Spanish for curse words). "these **** ****** have been nothing but problems since the ******** demanded we have gasoline ones. I cannot wait until they buy electric cars!"

Now that electronics are common for voltage manipulation, it is worth considering to put a 36 to 24 volt reducer for lighting and then buy inexpensive good looking CREE 18-watt floodlights for night time. A pair will light forward just as good as auto headlights. A pair consumes less than one ampere.

I detest the stinking, noisy gas powered carts. Should be banned. (some resorts do).

Whatever...

It's GOTTA have flames and interior lights that pan through the color spectrum.

She want to buy a new one, which pretty well limits her to the latest technology. Hundreds of reconditioned carts out there but that is not what she wants.

If you are just cruising around the campground, there really is no need for whiz bang technology. For the modest range and speed needed, a standard 36v setup will do just fine.

Now if you live in a city that allows them on streets and you regularly do 20-30miles in a day, then you need to start considering what you can do for range.
