HWH Hydraulic Jack Issue

I have been traveling cross country for over a week with no issues. However today when I set up at the campground I lowered my jacks but didn't like the setup so I decided to retract them and start over. But the two passenger side jacks would not retract. I have read that there is a manual override on the system. Where is it located, at the pump or the control module? Could heat have something to do with this? It was a very hot day of travel. I have a HWH 210 series system on my class A motorhome.

He has a manual valve system, NO wires at all. Doug

What you do is what you posted. If no pinched hoses, then you crack open each individual jack line at the control valve. IF the jacks retract you need a new Joystick valve body. If they do NOT retract, then those 2 jacks need new inner seals and will have to be rebuilt. Before you crack open the lines, try to push a pry bar or such under the jacks and attempt to pry/lever them up. IF the jacks have bad inner seals, this will slowly bring them up. Then you know the 2 jacks have to be rebuilt. Doug

Thanks for all the suggestions but my jacks are straight jacks with no air on the suspension. I traced every line and could find no pinched hoses. I took the top off the control module and manually depressed the individual tops of all the valves. No help. I guess I could break the hose unions in front of the valves and drain the fluid until the jack retracts. Any other suggestions.

On my coach the HWH system pump has four valves on top, each with a handle. Turning the handle will release the pressure causing the jacks to retract. I don't know if my 1993 system is the same as yours.

As others have suggested, you have to start the engine and "air up" the suspension to raise the chassis up and allow the jacks to swing up, if you have that type of system. Also driving forward can force the jacks to swing up, but again only if you have that type of jack system. If they don't swing up, you'll cause quite a bit of damage driving forward while they are still down.

I know on mine(not sure if this applies to you) but after lowering my kick down jacks and then losing some air pressure in the suspension, my jacks historically wont retract until pressure has been restored(starting the engine and building pressure again). Just a thought....also if your on dirt/gravel, you can try to undermine the jacks to give them more clearance. Good Luck.

200 series are Joystick systems. That means the JOYSTICK is the only release of fluid. Since BOTH jacks do not retract, then the Joystick is probably not the problem. There are 4 needle seat valves at the Joystick control. 1 needle for each jack. Do the Jacks retract and the swing up horizontal (called kick down jacks) or are they straight jacks? If Kick down, make sure they clear the ground, because if they retract the cylinder but do not lift OFF the surface, then they cannot kick up and then fully retract. IF you have kick down jacks, you can drive OFF of them by slowly inching forward and they will pull backward and they then swing horizontal. Check for pinched hoses. Doug
