I recently purchased a travel trailer from a private seller, he told me there was a leak but it had been fixed, unfortunately i trusted his answer. Got home and looked at the roof and found a 6x6 hole filled with black roof tar that had opened up during the ride home. I have been looking all over the web and finding a ton of info and videos on recoating a leaky roof, but that is not exactly my problem. I have cleaned out the mess and replaced the rotted wood with fresh wood, now my question is where do i go from here ? I have a 28x14 piece of new plywood on the roof, do i purchase a piece of epdm membrane fit it in the area then seal seem and cover with a coat of liquid roof ? Do i use something like eternabond then cover with liquid roof ? Wanted to cover the finished patch with liquid roof to keep it more uniform looking. Any tips would be great.

Thanks

A professional roofer would add a new piece of membrane and seal it to the existing roof with strips of EPDM, using lap sealant. I think Eternabond is a great product and may work for a repair like this, just haven't tried it.

I'm a firm believer in Eternabond. If you patch it with a piece of epdm, Eternabond would be a great way to finish the edges. I've used it in various ways on my trailer over the last 10 years with no problems. You could then use the self leveling Dicor product after that just to make sure. I don't know if I would go all the way to the liquid roof stuff unless I was going to do the whole thing. JMHO
