New 6 volt AGM Batteries

Now after 3 seasons I've replaced my original 24 group 12 volt battery with 2-6 volt AGM (Duracell Platinum) 409 Ah. I'm setting up to do some off-grid camping now that I've gotten used to the full-hookup variety.

My trailer sits in my driveway, and given our cold winters I have taken the battery out each year and put in my basement when the weather gets real cold. I was wondering if this is necessary with AGM's?

I can keep my trailer hooked up 24/7 so the batteries stay topped off.

Yup. At 20F they"ll lose about 4% charge in four months with the ground cable disconnected. Give your convertercand your power bill a rest. 1.300 electrolyte freezes around -85F. But follow instructions exactly to 100.00% fully charge those batteries before winter storage.

AGMs hold their charge so I'd just unhook them.

After looking again at some of these batteries I suspect the AH rating you listed is actually referring to something else maybe cranking amps etc...

Im thinking these are going to fall into the 90-100AH rating class and weight around 70lbs each... The 150Ah batteries I was looking from TROJAN T-1275 produced 150 AH each and weighed at 85lbs...

That many AH's will most likely weigh around 250lbs each for wet cell batteries...

ADDED NOTE: Havent looked at AGM batteries verses wet cell batteries - I may be out in left field big time haha...

That's helpful to know!! I'd rather not take them out as they are a bit heavy (I didn't weigh them), and they snuggly fit in the spot I had right behind the propane tanks, which I needed to take off to get them in properly. Nice protection actually!

The two I have were from Sams Club and cost $179.99 each.

I do quite well camping off the power grid with my three each GP24 12VDC Interstates giving me 255Ahs...

Also in the market here for upgrading my 2008 Interstate installs. I need to look up the actual weight and actual AH capacity of these AGM's you have... What is exact part number...

If your converter doesn't overcharge them, it's ok. For me, I'd rather keep them comfy inside. They're just too darn expensive to take any risk with.

No. And it wasn't necessary with the other ones either.
