Shower Drain beyond the grunge!

Well since installing the New Faucets and the Drain in the Bathroom,I decided to do the Shower Drain also since it was getting pretty sad looking!

Surpize .....It wasn't all that difficult to take out albeit there are many strange parts for a relatively simple setup.

The next step is to locate a decent replacement Drain!

Should be easy right .......wrong!

The closest Drain that I could find which might fit in the big hole in the shower base is really for a Kitchen Sink! Of course Kitchen Sinks use Strainer Baskets which although easy enough to Rig as a hair screen catcher are also not comfortable under foot..

This will call for a visit to my machinist to spin a stainless disc complete with holes to cover the depression!

All's fun when changing the plumbing in a 20 year old Motor Coach!

Anyone else suffering in this manner?

I ended up at a Plumbing Wholesaler who sold Me the Correct Up to date replacement part and a fitting adapter for $16.10 Cad !

When you go into these wholesalers who swear they only deal with licensed repair people with the Old Parts in hand they will sell you stuff at wholesale prices.

What they won't do is sell you stuff if you arak vague questions or stumble along asking them to help you figure out what you may need!

Anyway thank you all for the shower mat ideas ,but we wanted a shiny new Drain not a rusty grungy thing hidden under a pretty mat!

A teak bath mat will cure that issue too. Gets your feet up off the shower pan floor....and keeps your feet dry when using the commode after a shower (if you have a wet bath) like I do.

...and it adds color to a dull white shower pan too.

I actually had a a secondary motive when I put mine in. My shower pan has a bit of flex to it and I was worried about cracking the drain flange in the pan. The teak shower stall / bath mat, adds reinforcement and makes the shower pan floor much more rigid.

Just go to Bed, Bath and Beyond and get a teak shower mat and stand on that. Problem solved and looks good too.
