Anyway, which of these two products (Sta-bil or Seafoam) is better for storing gas for a long time in a can? And how long is too long?
Thanks in advance!

So I found my old home grown formula for seafoam.
4 parts #1 diesel
2 parts Naptha
1 part Heet (ISO)
gonna go from #1 D to Kerosene since I have lost my supplier of #1 D in small quantities.

I gotta say that there has been a notable uptick in hostile commentary within the last year or so
It's been this way forever. This forum is one of the consistently most hostile "help" forums I have ever seen.
At least 50% of the questions get a response somewhere in them that's basically, "Why are you so stupid to want to know/try that?"

Also, Google can serve as a backup search tool -- use the domain name as a search term, in addition to the key words themselves. The Google advantage is that the native archival search bar in this forum lists prior responses chronologically, while Google usually prioritizes the results by the relative frequency of the key words within each document. So the cream rises to the top, at least in theory!!

Thanks, ford truck guy. I gotta say that there has been a notable uptick in hostile commentary within the last year or so -- very puzzling. Not sure what, if anything, can be done about it.
This forum, or group of forums, is so valuable. You'd think that those of us who benefit from the advice (and who occasionally offer our own thoughts) would all want to promote usage, rather than discouraging questions and comments.
This change in the Forum, has been discussed in numerous threads. I think it's been getting worse, for at least 2 years. Numerous long time members have left because of the uptick in contentious posts.

I get very valuable information and enjoy the discussions and comments. The problem I have with the "search" feature is that occasionally I can't think of the proper phrase or key word to use in the search box. Then I finally ask the question again but most people just jump in and give advice and even reference past posts which cover my question.

bucky, I don't see where any of those search results compare stabil and seafoam for long term gas can storage. They talk about one product or the other, and they talk about use in a piece of equipment, rather than for storage per se. Not the same thing at all.
But I sure appreciate your comment that I "pretended to search" -- very neighborly and friendly!! That is exactly the kind of comment that will encourage forum participation. Well done, and happy holidays!
don't worry about them... It"s the norm anymore here to put others down, that is why we are down to less than 1 full page at times, new folks just don't come back..... I read that link as well, and other than Your original post, NOTHING comparing the 2 to each other...

i would rather recommend asking google. As I foggily recall, I used No 1 diesel instead of the mineral oil.
I have my formula scribbled down in the barn somewhere and will post back this eve, if I can remember that long. 😉

A long time ago, seems like on here, someone posted a home grown version of Sta Bil gleaned from the ingredients from the MSDS sheet. It works for me but there is no additive specified for the Aromatic ingredient. :W
Is this what you're referring to?

Not sure why you would add anything to non ethanol gas??? 87 gallons in my GlasPly Boat at the end of the season. Fires right up in the spring and runs great.
Really not sure why someone would run Supreme in EVERYTHING when it clearly is a waste of money in things that don't require it.
ATS's and sleds are all run on 93 octane per manufacturer lawnmowers and snowblower run just fine on it Sunoco 93 octane is 10% Ethanol that's the resonance for using red Stabil.

Didn't see it mentioned but from tests I've seen K100 does a better job than Stabil.
