I've been looking for a good battery charger that will double as a re conditioner (with EQ and desulfate capabilities). Was going to buy it from Amazon but it looks like they no longer carry it; looked elsewhere and every place I had bookmarked no longer carries it.

Is it no longer made? Hopefully I didn't wait too long to buy it.

Why wouldn't a spot of aquarium silicone fix it ?

Mine has a noisy fan and I was worried, having read here about some troubles with that. I took it apart and it was the fan housing when stuffed into its slot rattling on something. Perfectly quiet fan when out of the (padded) slot. It is not screwed down. I could not figure what was actually making the noise or find a quiet position in its slot, but at least it was nothing that was going to make the charger not work.

It looks like a good fix for the noise would be to take the fan right out and mount it externally with screws or use any other similar fan. I have the fan off my broken Paramode converter that would work there. Not bothered by the noise enough at the moment to do that now I know it is harmless.

I was looking for one this summer for a friend. Couldn't find the 40A unit anywhere, best I could tell it had been discontinued. There were some of the smaller units available, 10A??? But that wasn't what he was looking for.

It's a shame if it is gone for good, IMHO a very good bang for the buck. It plus HF manual one is all you need.

If anyone finds a source please post it.

Luckily, I bought one a year or so ago.

So BFL don't let yours go up in smoke!!!

I had the same issue several years ago. They used to sell them in Walmart and then discontinued selling them. I bought a discontinued one at Big Lots for $50. Some Marine stores still sold them for about $120. When I looked into this Scumacher sold a 40 Amp one that was equivalent with newer technology for about $100.
