Tremendous bolt struck a granite boulder 30' X 30' X 15'

It cleaved it in two. A ONE FOOT smoking gap. In a natural cave 100' away the power made our hair physically stand up on end and crackle and the same for the malamute (he obeyed commands instantaneously for several weeks after that).

No thankee, gracias...

Yeah, but it made the dog mind his commands! :B

If you hear thunder, you can be stuck by lightening! Do not be in or near the water in a thunderstorm! Get inside and away from windows. Unplug RV from shore power. I have seen people in Florida walk outside from a perfectly good building with an UMBRELLA in a lightening storm with strikes all around. They would laugh at me for not "braving" the storm.

We had a close strike, about 25 yards from our TT. I remember the interior was like a orange flashbulb went off. Showered the TT with tree parts... And the worst part was that the generator was never right after that.. Constantly breaking. First was a circuit board, then the rotor, then I don't know as I sold it.

The year before we/I moved from Indiana to Calif
I was in my upstairs radio room/shop, straightening up and watching the thunder storm out the window, All equipment was unplugged
When lighting struck the tall oak tree about 60 ft in from the window, in the back yard
I was monetarily blinded and couldn't hear a thing for about 10 minutes
The tree did not split, but it lost a strip of bark from the top all the way to the ground
We found bark in the street in front of the house, on the roof, and in the back yard of the house across the street from the front of the house

I Always unplug the RV from shore power during storms
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

With respect: I don't care how what type of bulb and how long a single lighting bolt will light it. (Where your link leads)

This is why I am adamant about physically unplugging a rig from the power pedestal when lightning approaches.

I had to attend a seminar before they would let me near the ultra high voltage DC transmission line in Nevada. It's potent Juju.
