5/8 Tonge and Groove Plywood

Dutchmen Travel Trailer repairing Rotted floor,it has 5/8 tonge and groove plywood. I cannot find 5/8 tonge and groove plywood at Lowes or Home depot in the Houston Texas area any suggestions.

Is the joint over a continuous joist/beam? If not, your floor WILL eventually flex and give at that joint.

TNG is definitely worth it for floors. If you're having trouble finding it, go to homedepot.com or lowes.com and find it. You can call and order it to be picked up in the store (or even delivered, but for one or two pieces $$)

Otherwise, look for lumberyards in your area. Ask your local contractor buddy (or even the guys at Lowes or HD if they don't have TNG) where you can get some.

Also keep in mind a butt joint with a groove cut for the tongue, but butted against a non-tongued edge will also have more give and be most susceptible to damage due to the weakened edge.

All the work you're doing, best to do it "right" and avoid any potential troubles down the road. My $.02

Warning: a 4x8 sheet of TNG is NOT 4' wide when installed. Keep that in mind when measuring.

Look for 19 / 32" tongue and groove plywood .
That is what you have now .
Plywood has been "scant " 1 /32" for over 3 decades.
Further , You may also find that you cannot get a 2 x 4 .
But a 1- 1 /2" x 3 -1 /2" is readily available .
Before 1970 it was 1 - 5 /8" x 3 - 5 /8" .

When I repaired a rotted floor on my '94 Dutchmen 5er I used 5/8" CDX. It worked out well. Any variation in thickness from old to new can be a real hassle trying to get the seam even or sneaking a replacement piece under and existing wall. I had a seam under the vinyl flooring that was not noticeable after the repair.

You are probably going to have to buy 5/8 CDX or BC. You can make the tongue and groove using a router, a biscuit joiner, or just a skil saw. The 5/8 plywood will be 19/32, as no plywood is the actual thickness, anymore.

I'd suspect that that is the stuff the OP needs, rather than 5/8.

Alternatively, of course, one could buy a router and bits and put tongues and grooves in the regular plywood. Not that bad of a job, considering only a few sheets involved.
