A/C Auto Lo?

Bought our 2019 Jayco 324BHTS a few weeks ago, aside from getting it loaded up and keeping it plugged it, we haven’t really done much to it or been in it.

Today it finally got hot, thermostat was reading 99 inside. I turned on the air, and since we were not going to use it until friday i turned it to AC auto lo.

Didn’t really do much. We could hear the ac unit running on the roof but the fan wasn’t blowing any cool air through the ducts.

I hit ac hi auto and it runs perfectly normal, as in any camper we've ever had. The thermostat clicks it off at the correct temp and it cools well.

Quite frankly i’ve never seen the ac auto low feature so I dont know much about it.

Seems to me we’ve had either hi, or auto, where hi runs nonstop.

Does it sound to be operating correctly? Ac unit running, but no fan blowing cool air?

We do have a 2 unit TT, and am not sure that has anything to do with it.

Just looking for clarification. Our past 2 rvs have been 5th wheels, so we are in Downgrade mode.

If you are inclined then open the thermostat and check for a loose or disconnected wire. And check same up in the A/C unit.

Yes, Low does not work in any mode, just got done messing around with it. The front AC is flawless.

It connects to the back of the thermostat on one end and the A/C unit on the other.

Some thermostats connect the wires with friction locks and it’s possible they got the insulated part of the wire in there too far. It couldn’t hurt to pull the thermostat and check. Look for a GL or gray labeled pin.

If you don't have a through ceiling ac then you have to go on the roof take the ad apart the control box is in the area where the filter would be

So what i have is an AirXcel thermostat.

The cool function has hi, low, auto, auto hi, auto low.

The lo function does not do anything besides run the compressor.

From what wveryone has been saying, im assuming its a warranty issue.

So does the fan run by itself in 'Fan lo' mode?

The RV wiring should have 3 wires used for cooling:

1. Cool - runs the compressor
2. Fan low - runs the fan low speed
3. Fan high - runs the fan high speed

In 'Fan low' mode the thermostat turns on #2.
In 'Fan high' mode it turns on #3.
In 'Cool low' mode it turns on #2 always and #1 when cooling is needed.
In 'Cool high' mode it turns on #3 always and #1 when cooling is needed.
In 'Cool low auto' mode it turns on #2 and #1 when cooling is needed.
In 'Cool high auto' mode it turns on #3 and #1 when cooling is needed.

If wire #2 is not connected, there will be no fan in any of the 'low' modes.

great question, thanks for bringing it to my attention. will check it out.

The fan should always run with the compressor. On most RV units there is not that much difference in airflow between hi and low speed fan.

On Auto, the fan will only run when the compressor kicks on.

It's never "just a trickle".
If you can't feel it and you are SURE that the compressor is running, then it isn't right.

Note: Leaving the fan on "manual" regardless of the speed tends to dehumidify less than "auto" and thus usually is not desirable.

P.S. Getting upset over "trash" answers that come back hurts nobody but you. ALL public forums have them. Chill.

I'll double check my thermostat brand when i get home.

I am pretty sure when i kicked it on it went to

Fan Hi, Lo
AC Hi Lo Auto
Heat - and im not sure what options it had.

Definitely though on AC when set at Lo, Auto was also displayed, the compressor was running, and there was no fan.

I was unaware if the design was to just have a trickle of cool air, but i'm certain it's an issue.

So, a 5th wheel is superior to a travel trailer? I wonder whey a travel trailer is a down grade from a 5th wheel. Could you please explain.
