Your 2015 crewcab silverado 5.3 with a 3;42 rear end is going to hate you. Too much weight for that truck. BTW, you will be at the max weight of 9,000 + lbs.

Not trying to rain on your parade but you should know up front.

OP wants you to say he can safely pull that TT with his current TV and BIG family, and then you will be his friend.

Hmm, either no one agrees with you or no one wants to be your friend.

edit: Oh, I see there is a question with info. ๐Ÿ™‚

That Catalina is a long and heavy TT. Without even analyzing numbers, you need a 3/4T truck. A 3.42 rear end isn't great either. Many say the cutoff for a 1/2T TV is around 7K-7.5K lbs. Payload capacity is the important factor when towing a TT. Your receiver may also not be rated high enough? Even *if* under/near the max. payload rating, you may not like the way it accelerates and tows up hills and steeper grades.

The brochure dry tongue weight is listed as 790 lbs. Never ever go by dry weights. The actual TW after being fully loaded for camping is going to be 12-13% of the actual TT weight. Without having gone to a scale, using the max GVWR no., TW will be 1140 - 1235 lbs. Could even be somewhat higher as sometimes TW can be as high as 15%.

On top of the TW, you'll have the weight of all passengers, pets, groceries and camping "stuff" in the bed and any accessories (like a cap for ex.). This weight PLUS the actual TW is your payload figure that your truck needs to be rated to handle. Look at the door pillar sticker which will give you the max. payload. Better still, take the truck to a scale fully loaded for camping + full tank of gas and see how much payload capacity you have left.

Possibly because the answers you are receiving you don't want to see. Smaller TT or bigger TV.

My two sense, I have a 25 ft. TT with 750 lbs. on the tongue. I have 1411 max cargo. Add two adults, a large dog, a tool box and a couple of lawn chairs and I am at my weight limit.

Like many I was mislead by the 406 lbs. of dry tongue weight which became 750lbs in the real world.

In the end, the CAT scales tell the real story. The scales do not pay attention to the advertising hype.

That truck, with a large family, lots of gear, is not the best choice to tow that size trailer. It will pull it, but would likely be over several ratings when loaded for a trip. Your decision, every ones comfort zone is different.

A 5.3 and 3.42 gearing in a half ton won't work with that larger trailer. You'll need a 2500 or if still made, a Suburban in the 3/4 ton class.

Or get a bigger truck if you must have a large trailer.

At least a 2500....

Is this the question?

You have the 6 speed correct?

Its not a matter of what you can tow. Its what payload you have for tongue weight without going over your axle rating in the rear of truck..

We can get a ball park if you post what the sticker says on your door for max payload.

But for more accurate find a cat scale and get individual axle weights of the truck.. Full tank of fuel and all the family members you will take camping with you..

Once you get those weights you will know what exact trailer you can tow...

That trailer has a 800 lbs tongue. With propane and battery, plus stuff youll be up over 1000 lbs.

Now if your truck only has say 1400 lb payload, thats means you can fit 400 more lbs in the truck. Thats family, gear, fuel, ect... So now your overweight possibly...

See what I mean?

This is what you think you can tow...

Now in reality this is what you should tow if its a 1500 series pick up you have. Which I think you do with the 3:42 rear...

This TW is 585. you may be 785lb when done.

Plus its only 4900 lbs. Way ahead of the game for that 5.3. Ask me how I know.... LOL I have similar truck and tow the same weight as this.

GVW 7000.. Still ahead of the game..

And with large family this carries 2100 lbs of stuff... Do you have a ton of stuff to put in the camper?
