I got a call this past weekend . Friend of mine had a fire . Lost his dogs , they went out the escape hatch . It was fully engulfed in less than 5 minutes . Check your escape hatch to see if it works . Camper was less than 3 years old . I dont think it was the cord , I think it was the pedistal.

People underestimate how fast fires spread. Chances are the fire spread so fast that rescue efforts would've been block. The toxic smoke from a RV fire can kill you seconds and skin burns fairly easily. Running through a fully engulfed RV to save pets would be pretty foolhardy. Each year lots of people die attempting to rescue pets from fires. The best that you can do is get out and save your life, give them as many escape options as you can, start calling them, and hope that they'll come to you. Chances are they'll find their way out.

I've survived a rapidly moving house fire before. I'll never pass judgement on the actions some takes during the event. Once you've lived thorough it you see things differently. You literally have second to make life changing decisions. You have seconds just to save your own life, let alone another. That's why it's a good idea to check all of your safety equipment and practice escapes before the fire happens.

The truck can be fixed , his new enclosed trailer that was attached to the truck got a bit toasted , his golf cart was burnt . 2 or 3 other trailers got heat damaged .

I may be wrong , but I dont think it was the cord , I think there was a floating neutral at the box . There were supposly some electric issues on that side of the campground last year . But Thats all I know .

How sad. Horrific pictures.:(

This is yet another sad reminder just HOW FAST these RV's become engulfed and are totally destroyed by fire.

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

Wow. Can't remember the last time we thought about the escape windows.

Being in a TT now, that will be more important. I'll make sure I check them AND prepare the kids to use the ones on their end of the camper.

Sorry for your friends' loss, yet thankful they made it out!

It's a good reminder to check your escape windows, fire extinguisher, and alarms, as well as keep an eye on all the systems and connections as we ramp up for the 2017 camping season.

Thanks for sharing 😉
