Gee whiz! Let me interject here for a second. Having worked in manufacturing for a leading building materials manufacturer now for 32+ years I want to clear up a few misconceptions. The first one is that all management is bad and only cares about the bottom line, it has been my experience that this is total BS. The other is that the American worker regardless of skill or motivation is somehow better than all others or that everyone one of them is totally committed to being the best at what they do. I have worked both sides and I'm here to tell you that most people want to do the right thing but sometimes lack the skill or ability to do it right. I have never been asked as a manager to do anything immoral, unethical or illegal. It is always possible to have rogue individuals on both sides not doing the right thing!

Will they swap the hitch, controller, and wiring to the loaner so you can actually use it for what you bought the truck for? Thought not!

My question would be this, if I had one of the trucks on the list. Are you, GM, going to give me a loaner vehicle, while we wait for the corrective part to come in?

What, you said no? Ok then, are you going to buy back my truck?

GM Dealers are supposed to have courtesy loaners for customers. If you have a GM vehicle and visit the GM dealer for this or other safety or noncompliance recalls, and they do not make proper arrangements for alternative transportation, feel free to send me a IM message.

Yes, actually it is. I did not say American and made no indication of that. My post had absolutely nothing to do with American or foreign. I honestly have no idea where GMs or Fords are manufactured. The only reason I know Rams are made in Mexico is because a couple outspoken members post it daily. Anyone reading the post can clearly see there was nothing written or inferred against American workers. Come on - there are plenty of things written on the forum to fight about. Do we really need to start making stuff up?

Again sorry man, it just must be all workers you are talking about "did they catch some rogue employee purposely not welding something?". As far as "making stuff up" again I didn't say "did they catch some rogue employee purposely not welding something?" and no you did not say "American workers". Why would you say something like that at all?

Do you have first hand knowledge that the manufacturing industry is full of these so called "rogue employees"? Does it happen, yes on occasion you will have a disgruntled worker but they are in every job no matter the employees status.

So one more time, sorry I read more into your comment!

We now return to our regularly scheduled program lol.

Sorry Ric!

Being a business owner I always wonder what happened leading up to this - did they catch some rogue employee purposely not welding something? Did they get a bad batch of welding "glue?" How did they first learn of the problem? Maybe a truck just fell apart as it rolled off the assembly line?

And the brand bashers really make me laugh - a disgruntled employee could pee in the milkshake machine at McDonalds just as easy as Burger King.

As an "employee" with 30 years in manufacturing I would think it was more likely management wanting to push more product out the door with less people and no PM work on their machines.

Those upper control arms a welded by a machine or robot not a person. Also where was the QC department? This should have be caught at the plant LONG before the parts ever got built onto any vehicles! All welded components MUST have at least one part per shift cut apart, sectioned and the welds examined. Either under a microscope or x-rayed.

All of our welds are checked each shift and it used to be that production was held up until the lab gave the OK to run. Now they drop off the parts and keep running, if a issue is found ALL parts are quarantined and a QC Engineer makes the determination as to if the parts can be reworked or scarped. At one time we had over 50 workers in the lab, now we have less then 20.

Sad that you feel this way about American workers. I do love this part, "Did they get a bad batch of welding "glue?"", obviously you know nothing about welding and or manufacturing. Maybe you should keep to been making "mike shakes and hamburgers" or whatever it is you do.

Don

Well said Don!

Wow guys... lighten up! Where was I bashing American workers? Everyone in this contentious forum is constantly barking about all the vehicles being made in Mexico.

And you are correct - I know nothing about welding or manufacturing. I was pretty much conceding that with my obviously ridiculous "welding glue" comment.

Everyone's panties are 99% bunched before they even open a thread here. It's no wonder this forum is just a big fighting pit.

You sir ............nailed it,especially the panti part, dang funny, but it's good for a grin once in a while.Sorta like pokin a tiger.:E

Whoa !! Hold up there Don, how soon we forget about the Ram R46 recall. I am sure you know about that one.

You brought up the weld test procedure, how in the world did, how many thousands of 2013-14 Ram trucks slipped by on POOR weld quality. :h Mine is still needing to get the support brace for the said recall. Somebody dropped the ball pretty bad at FCA on this one .

Just another reason to not buy a GM product in my book. Been burned way too many times, not to the point of statistical significance by generally accepted standards, but by my standards.

It's my money, so my standards apply.
