Good by Lance 1121

Hello Everyone.

Altho I do not get on here very much as running the North-East Truck Camping Jamboree's take a good chunk of my time now, but I have spent a good amount of time on here in the past.

My 1121 has served me darn well(after the first 40 months or so)and its time to say good by. The best part is my trusty Generac LP 3600 plus Gen/set is still going strong with just shy of 2000 hours. It does help that I own 2 donor gen/sets for parts.

It been to Lance Ca. twice,I have replaced the nose due to a seam opening up while I was re-covering from a horrific fall, the driver rear wing has been replaced twice, the passenger rear wing has been replaced 3 times. I am on my 2nd 16ft awning,2nd slide topper(material only), have rebuilt the furnace & Hot water heater. I have also replace one of the Atwood jack motors and gaskets on both dump valves.

I have added a 2000 pure sign wave inverter by Zantrax,dedicated plugs just for the inverted, and dumped the 13k A/C in favor of the 9200 btu A/C. Also all lighting has been upgraded to LEDs.

It has been totally recaulked 4 times,
First time was at the Lance I believe in 2005
Second time was when the nose was re/built due to a leak(2008???)
Third time at Xtreme Campers (2011)
Fourth time at Xtreme Campers (2014)

It is going to a great home in Maine

P/S - I pulled the trigger on a 2014 Lance 1172 - the redesigned version - not the original version with no outside storage.

P/S#2 - The total out of pocket expenses is over 20k.....

Good afternoon Everyone.

This forum still rocks and I thank all of you! I do have to say I was a tough decision to let the Lance 1121 go, as there is not a system I have not gone over in the past years. I spend my regular 2 weeks every spring doing my regular maintenance and going over every inch of caulking.
My gosh I got to learn all about these new fancy systems. Heck the integrated T/V - radio system, I am going to need a rocket scientist to learn that system.
I am glad Lance dumped their original couch(no storage underneath)in favor of this one(tons of storage under the seat)
I am not looking forward to removing the underneath belly so I can run my 0ga wire for my charge circuit and 2000wat Zantrex pure sign wave inverter.
I will have 370 watts of solar and a Bluesky 2000E controller.
I am leery of this new Schwintek slide/out mechanism as there is absolutely no manual crank to bring the room in. I look at the full wall slide/out and say - YA Right, its gonna slide right in nice and easy once I remove the 2 motors.

P/S - I for got add that the 1121 got detailed at my local detailer 29 times in the 13 years I have owned it.

Good choice, Mikeee, the 1172 is one of the few I would consider to replace my 1121 as well. I've got too much time and effort in mine to think about getting rid of it just yet, though. You've certainly gotten some good use out of yours. Though I haven't put near the hours on mine that you have on yours, I like the Generac in mine too.

Hope you enjoy the new camper. I really like those side-door models.

Mikeeeee: at some point, you have to decide if you want to be a full-time "RV maintenance manager", or a camper without worries floating around every time you head out camping :B

I remember that camper. Someone will be getting an exceptionally well maintained unit in Maine, with a solid history of maintenance.

*Dunes and I will some day attend another NE Rally; however, at this point, spring and summers are nearly impossible to get any meaningful time off, unfortunately. Winters are our only option at the moment, in the South 🙂
