Our Aerolite 174es clone of your Kodiak 172e came with a 3500 lb Lippert from the factory. A larger one wouldn't hurt, but I've found the 3500 to work well in this application. If you are buying for yourself, I'd go with a 4,000 or 4,500. The extra power doesn't hurt and you can take it with you if you upgrade to another unit that can benefit from the higher capacity. Get the largest you can afford but don't go below 3,500.

if you are using a WDH, then an electric tongue jack makes a lot of sense, no matter how light it is.

I agree. An electric tongue jack can make lifting the back end of a TV a great deal easier when trying to lift round bars onto a Equilizer or Fastway WDH.

Also, the electric hitch on my HTT weighs 22 pounds. The manual ones weigh 7-12 pounds. The ten pound difference is really not that big of a deal when you are putting two propane bottles and perhaps two 6V batteries up there as well. The price for the convenience is not that great.

If you want a 100% accurate answer, hitch the camper to your truck, remove the three bolts and pull out the current tongue jack to take a measurement. You can also use jack stands or blocks under the tongue instead of hitching up. Either way, should only take about 10 minutes.

you have to link pics from a 3rd party pic hosting site, like Picasa or Photobucket.
you can't upload them to this website.
