JayFlight needs a new roof already.

I took the trailer back yesterday to have a spot on the roof looked at and it turns out there's what they think to be a plywood splinter popping up. While we were looking at that we found at second one.
So guys, inspect your roofs WELL. I could not see this, I only found it by walking around up there barefoot on our last trip.
Good thing Jayco has a two year warranty, it's well into our second one. The service writter said Jayco will most likely replace the entire roof.

Don’t believe everything/anything a service manager tells you. Agree, Jayco would not haul it back, you would have to get it there. IMO if a new roof is the way you go it would be worth the haul to have it done right. I would be more than skeptical of a dealer and be prepared for a hack job.

I agree both spots will be small. I will have to talk to them in more detail before they do the work. I don't think Jayco will haul it 650 miles and back to do what their authorized dealer can do. The service manager told me they did over 200 roof replacements last year. I have no reason to think they will not preform the work better than the assembly line did.

I would let Jayco recover it but not a dealer. If it is coming through I would remove the object and patch with dicor covered with eternabond. Sounds like we are talking about a pin hole? Seems excessive to recover the entire roof. If you let a dealer do this work you are asking for problems!

The one piece on mine has a shape edge on it and would come through if stepped on. The second spot actually looks like a screw that has backed out a turn, that's the one he found. Dealer said just one of the two would be enough for them to recover it.

My Jayco has pieces of wood debris under the roof membrane. You can feel them if you step on them bare foot or wipe your hand over them. The rig is 5 years old and so far none have poked through. Jayco refused to do anything about it.

Interesting. Especially since Jayco touts their roofs as being superior. But any manufacturing process can produce defective products. Glad you caught it under warranty
