New tow vehicle

Well I guess I will have to change my user name lol. I bought a new 2016 Ram 3500 DRW CC LB 4x4 with the 6.4 hemi. I have had 3 diesels in a row and no longer can justify the extra cost up front and after the warranty the high repair bills. I love this truck!!! I now have about 400 miles on it and like it more every time I drive it. Its the first dodge I have had since 1988.I will tow with it the first time new years to go to Ocean Lakes CG. My TT only weighs around 8000lbs so I believe I will be fine. My previous truck was a standard cab LB 2 wheel drive so I feel like I am a foot higher when in the seat.

Oh yeah. Synthetic oil is all you can get in 0-40. I haven't found anything else

I always used 0-40 synthetic Rotella in mine. Usually bought 3-4 jugs at a time with a bunch of filters.

Congrats on the new truck. personally that is a lot more truck than I would need but we have to be pleased and it has to meet our needs.

I thought the comment on Penzoil was entertaining (maybe I should have said interesting). i just had my 6.2 F250 serviced at the stealer where I bought it. Do i know what label oil they put in it. Don't have clue. i feel confident that it came from some big adz bulk tank he has stashed somewhere. Same for DW's Toyota. I don't know anything about the oil they dump in there but I do know I have a lifetime limited power train warranty.

Does the Chrysler book really recommend the Penzoil label stuff?

BTW, I saw one of those 6.4 one tons in the snowbird camp ground last winter and thought it looked great.
it really does say Pennzoil

That's great mileage! We just got home today from an 800~ mile trip. Running 65~mph, my 5.4L F250 returned 8.5mpg towing our 32.5' TT. Even with the lowly 5.4L, I'm still very happy to be back in a gasser. My 2005 345hp 5.7L Hemi powered 2500HD also did a fine job towing our 10,400 lb 5th wheel around the southeast. At 120k miles when I traded it for the crew cab Ford, it still ran like a new one. For comparison, my four Cummins powered Rams gave 10.5mpg towing around the same routes.

The new gas engines have very good power, the 410hp and 429tq is much better than my last gasser it was a 97 f350 with a 460

Well I just towed for the first time. My TT is 8500lbs and my golf cart is around 1500 which I haul in the bed. I was hoping for 10mpg and expecting 8mpg. Well the ram 3500 CC LB 4X4 with the 6.4 hemi and 3;73 gears managed 9.8 mpg I can live with that!!!! Very happy with this setup and glad I made the change to a gasser. Plenty of power and the integrated brake controller is light years ahead of my previous 08 F250 with the 6.4 diesel.

Sounds good. That engine requires the 0W40 oil and I believe Pennzoil is the only certified oil for the 6.4.
yes, thats what the owners manual says also.
