A couple weeks ago I phoned in an order. (After a few weeks of negotiating) My wife and I have been in a few of them. This will be out 3rd TC and our 8th RV. 4 MH 24, 34, 40 and 45 ft. 2 other TC and a 5th wheel.

We always have a MH and a TC at the same time. Now it is a 5th wheel and TC. They get used for diff things.

Didn't get a lot of options. I feel I can do a better job with the batts, inverter, and the TV's.

Ordered, double couch, leather or what passes for leather on both.
3 slides are now standard, no choice, thats what I was told.
micro/convection
sealed burner top
upgraded escape hatch
9k btu AC
gas electric hot water
swing out brackets, they should be standard.
power awning.

It is prob diff from what most people would order but we have ben camping traveling for a long time. I will add 4 or 6 6v batts and a 3k inverter. I also have a pair of honda 2 k gen.
I will only carry 1. I don;t think they have started the build. I was told it would be in around the end of Jan. Looking forward to it.

Decent delay for F550 add to that it's a Lariat. Additional delays due to 68M payload upgrade part constraint. Finally shipping to West coast.

I order my F350 dually with lowest differential I could (3.55 I think) and the beast flys over the mountains on overdrive even with significant loads.
I also love the 360 cameras. It is expensive option that come with extreme trailer package, but really handy when you have to turn in tight spots.
2 years ago I found California dealer who build the truck for me $6,000 below MSRP.

Zb,

Putting the order in mid Dec for a late March delivery. Mainly to get the order locked in before any 25% tariff gets enforced at beginning of year. Unknown what year it will actually end up.

I've been caught off guard by the lead time for the F550 with the payload upgrade package being 25 weeks! I've ordered the truck about a month ago for a late March delivery as well. Good thing I checked because the sales person thought a January order timeframe but there's good ordering lead time info out there for Ford on the config component availability restrictions. I had sent the info to the sales person and he replied... "that looks like what we get". I pretty much smacked my head with how dumb his was. Never rely on these idiots to due the diligence needed. If I had not done some research myself, I'd be looking at a June delivery on a January order. 😕

Wikel, will your host be a 2019 or a 2020, I think they switch over fairly early in the spring. Maybe check on the date. It might help further down the line.

I might just end up with no hitch and then once I'm up in the NW, swing by Torklift to get it certified.

Good advise. Tyler at Douglass is great to work with and depending if you have a step bumper or rear apron, it's done professionally and then concealed in my case with non-slip bed liner on the tread of the step bumper. The rest is color matched to the truck body

Heavier front suspension would help if you choose to go with big front bumper and winch. If you do not plan on those, there is no reason for stiffer front springs.

The nice thing about chassis cabs is that they do not change much from year to year. I would take the risk in ordering the current SuperHitch Magnum and make any adjustments if needed for fit. It will be much harder to retrofit a strong enough receiver later that can handle an extension.

I keep forgetting that the fancier packages give and take options. Sometimes what I want is only available in my tightwad trim level...

So you didn't choose the heavier front suspension, heavy trailer tow package and dual fuel tanks in your build?

Can't do dual tanks on the Lariat F550. I've tried multiple times and even though the Ford site lists it, I keep being told it's a replacement not an addition. I will have an aux tank in the service body though...

Right now can only get the 12k hitch on the F550 because Torklift's approach is for customers to bring their vehicle up to Washington to be the test platform for certification. That's too far for me to travel for maybe a couple hundred bucks off the gear from them to do it. So it doesn't make much sense to upgrade the towing at this point.

Why would I need a heavier front suspension? I'm not planning to have any type of front receiver put on at this point. Did I miss something 🙂 If I need to upgrade the springs later, that's not really hard to do.

Getting my Mammoth stamp in the spring. Ordering camper mid December to match up with a truck delivery approx in March. Ordered through Apache with an 18% discount off MSRP (config and pricing listed below). Elimination of things on the roof to maximize solar space. I'd be adding some of my own things like TVs, additional power outlets (AC and DC), HDMI infrastructure for entertainment. I'm also going full induction with no cooktop and a AC/DC based fridge. Lastly I'm having the dealer put in a 13k air unit and not getting any default air unit from Host.

2019 F550 order submitted (approx 25 weeks to build due to limitation on payload upgrade package) to be delivered approx end of March. Below is the truck config and pricing. Might get it sub $60k if better incentives come out prior to pickup. 1440AH Lifepo4 battery pack in my garage lab but looking to migrate from 12v to 48v config. Investigating options for a 12v->48v battery to battery charge to push 48v down the 4/0 wire between the truck dual alternator setup and the camper battery pack. Service body still in initial discussion / design phase with Douglas.

Timing is everything. There was an early rain that soaked the place enough to have heavy equipment clean out the road where it dropped into the washes just before we got there. Returning from Arizona, we went up highway 247 and over to 18 which dropped us into Big Bear City. Never been there, didn't know what to expect and when turning a hard corner, saw this! It was @ 7:25 pm and for 10 minutes I tried to make sense of this light.
It's old news now, but this was Space X re-entering after sending off the satellite for Argentina.
