Rebuilding bed area in overhang

I recently bought a 1996 Starcraft Roadstar pop up slide-in. It has been extensively remodeled in the past, including plating the front outside of the overhang portion. My question is: If I remove the bed deck supports in the bed frame in the overhang, will it compromise the structural integrity of the overhang? I would leave all of the front and side supports in place and only take out the two front to back deck supports. I want to put in a taller mattress and not lose headroom. This old body needs all the help it can get.

What a blessing those granddaughters must be! Glad you solved your problem.

I solved my own problem. I crawled up there for a closer look and discovered what looked like actual supports were just 1" by 1" framing pieces with the paneling attached used to hold the deck for the bed up. They did nothing for support for the overhang. With the help of two ambitious grand daughters I took the supports out and they swept up and vacuumed the area. I will put plastic down for a vapor barrier and plywood down to strengthen the area. Problem solved.
