Scissor step latch

I wanted a way to keep my permanently-mounted scissor steps up out of the way of my motorcycle trailer tongue while traveling.

I came up with this solution:

The rubber stopper bumpers keep the steps from damaging the camper.

Hmmmm….I'm not sure about those bolts pulling against the camper siding. Is it filon or aluminum?
I just wrap a plastic coated cable with hooks on both ends around mine.

One screw is into the square aluminum tubing used for the frame. The other screw is through the Filon, wood, and into the sheet metal box of the generator compartment. I sure hope they don't pull out.

I used to use bungees to hold up the steps but it looked kinda Okie.

Where did you hook your cable on the camper?
