Toilet Paper

I have a question about "RV" toilet paper. Is it really necessary to use RV approved toilet paper in my truck camper? Do you guys use it or do you just use the same toilet paper that you use at home? I'v never owned an RV before so I don't know if this is necessary. I can't imagine it is much different that the Scott 1000 that I use at home. What do you use?

Due to having crohn's disease I consider myself a connoisseur of TP. When we went to single ply cheapy TP in the camper I realized I hate it. So what are some less abrasive options?

I read that some just use the same old stuff from home but I do get hesitant to go with the thicker stuff.

If you don't have 2 minutes to fill the tank with water instead of dumping it half full, where do you get the 2 minutes to use it?
Never mind, that's why it's only half full 🙂

I'm not sure how you're filling your black tank, but I cannot get 15 gallons (half tank) in mine in 2 minutes at a dump station. What type of pump or water delivery system are you running in your TC, because I don't want be near the back splash when you flush.

When someone puts a smiley face at the end of a post it's an indication they are just kidding.
Perhaps more than your tank needs a back flush so you can lighten up a little. 🙂

Jumbo, I got deleted and wasn't even part of your exchange. But since I try not to take myself too seriously, I'm not too butt hurt over it.

Today's world is full of thin skinned easily offended people.

I have seen too much PC and BS that just ruins humor and as you mentioned candor.

Makes me wonder how some people even function.

Don't feel you're being the only one edited. Mods have enough work trying to keep the forums clean much less messaging people that should know better.

I didn't write anything worse than the image I envision when I read about a camper stuffing waste covered toilet paper in a plastic bag and then the poster has the audacity to say there is NO SMELL. Give me a break.

And yes, I do wash my hands after using my toilet.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I will do a little test and see. I bet it breaks down at about the same rate.

Maybe they don't want to use their own toilets, but prefer public (sanitary?) facilities.

I also have someone camping with me that uses much more paper than I do. I prefer to stay with something that breaks down, so I don't have to deal with build up or repeated flushes. The extra cost of the RV paper is peace of mind and is not that that expensive if you stock up when on sale locally.

Typically I get the tank to half or greater level with water before opening the blade valve and have not had trouble in any of my RV's.

Working more than full time and still getting away precludes me from testing paper samples from various vendors to see if they are compatible with my tank. There's places and people to see instead of watching paper dissolve or cleaning out holding tanks and sewer hoses.
