TorkLift Battery Box

Here's my install of a great accessory: the Torklift battery box.
Holds 4 group 31's or a combination and whatever else you wish.

Plenty of top vents around the cover yet stays dry inside.
Comes with division plates and hold downs to keep your batteries stationary.

I added these PVC T's for my greasy weight bars.
With the bars turned toward the hitch the chains go into the hitch lock to keep the stinger and bars from tempting anyone.

My battery's are connected with Anderson SB50 connectors.
Makes a good cheap ($6.00 total) disconnect.

That's unusual popeye59, we bought AGM on its feature of going lower than traditional 12V lead-acid batteries (60% discharge) without damage. Maybe dual 6V golf cart batteries have lower rates and my specs don't compare AGMs to those, but vs. traditional 12V marine deep cycle cells. My Optima Blue Top has a 2008 date on it and is still delivering what I paid for (keep it on a float charger to minimize static decomposition).

My problem is I have thieves that like to cut locks and steal RV and boat batteries to sell to the scrap yard. I've had 3 locks cut and 4 6VDC golf cart batteries stolen. And ya know those aren't cheap. How well do these boxes lock? It looked like the one on the etrailer site was different with a steel frame and maybe sturdier. Not sure how those lids were attached.

You could switch out to AGM batteries and have them inside your rig, under a dinette, a bed or a cabinet, even mounted upside down! :B

My problem is AGM batteries don't like to be drawn down as low as a true Deep Cycle battery can be and since we boondock without a generator occasionally (and hence the reason for golf cart batteries in the first place), need to have a good power supply to last.

The things that come to those that wait will be the junky stuff left by those that got there 1st.

Received the box today. Instead of the A7709, which has been discontinued, the A7710R was sent. It is the perfect size to fit behind the propane tanks. Got the hole for the battery disconnect switch cut. Hopefully I can get it buttoned up tomorrow and post some pics. Also, I was contacted by a Torklift rep one day after I posted my update on 4/1, and that is the same day that I received the shipping confirmation email. Good to know that some companies still care about their reputation, even though I did not have a problem with the box, only the seller's customer service.

I ordered one last night for our new trailer. The cheapest price I found was from Torklift's own website, Torklift Central.

Update on our order. I ordered the PowerArmor MAX A7709 box. Got a call the next evening stating that the A7709 box has been discontinued and that the replacement was a mix of black and bright aluminum for the same price, so I agreed to accept the replacement. Called their support number at lunch yesterday after not hearing from them. I was on hold for 10 minutes and then was disconnected. Called back again and finally spoke to a rep. She searched their computer for awhile and then asked if she could call be back. She never did. I called again at 4:30. Got the same "can I call you back" from the rep and explained that they had burned me once. Well, he did call me back. The box is on back order and he thinks it will ship next Tuesday. Being on back order was never mentioned when they called me to switch boxes. So for now, I am withholding my recommendation to purchase from them. We will see what happens next week.

I received great service from Torklift, sorry to hear you are having issues. Hope it works for you as they have great products.

Don't know where you are but you can Google for a local distributor or anyone can get one on eBay - delivered!
