Trailer registration/title/inspection questions (Texas)

I'm new here and wanted to ask some general questions concerning travel trailer registration, title, & inspection for Texas.

I'm looking to buy a new Cricket out of state and register it in Texas.

Texas law doesn't require a trailer to be titled if under 4000lbs gross and also does not require inspection under 4500lbs.

Does this rule include out of state purchases? While not required, is it highly recommended to get trailer titled?

Do most of you guys also purchase some type of insurance coverage or add additional coverage to tow vehicle policy?

Thanks and looking fwd to the forums.

I have trailers in both categories. I went in because I hadn't received a title for the smaller. I don't believe they will issue a license for the light weight ones, period. You do have to register to pay the taxes and get the plates. I've never insured a trailer so don't know the regulations there.
