Trailer wiring problem / question.

I have a problem with my trailer lights. My passenger side brake light and blinker have quit working on my TT. I have checked the voltage on the 7 pin from my 2004 GMC Sierra and it is not getting power from the truck. It's not a problem with the TT. I have traced the wires to the best of my ability and cannot find the source of the problem. Can I tap directly into the brake light and blinker light wires from the passenger side tail light of my truck to bypass and correct the problem?

The trailer connections are a separate set of fuses from the truck lights. I suspect you have blown one.

You can but you may get a surprise when you do. Take a long piece of wire. Connect to your truck ground. Connect the negative meter probe. Then put the positive lead at the light. Do you get voltage? If so keep moving that ground probe wire. A bad ground can give you a indication of no voltage. Think about how did a wire break? Probably not. Most likely a corroded terminal connection at a connector, or bad ground. Check connection behind light and at connector at truck.

thinking it over I cannot see why not. It has to be either a bad connection or a bad harness. good luck with it.. I know I had to have my harness replaced recently.
