Winterizing

Hello @all. I just purchased a new 2024 Cherokee wolf den 16ev. I just had a situation come up where I'm going to have to live in it for the next few months. With winter time coming up, would I still have to have it winterized even though I'll be living in it full time

Thanks for taking time to read this and providing any feedback.

You posted this in the community feedback section which is for issues with the website itself. Hopefully the mods will move to the appropriate section.

Where in the country will you be staying? Unfortunately if you stay in a freezing area you're probably going to have to winterize it. Don't know your situation. But if at all possible you might want to consider moving to a warmer climate for winter.

Will you consistently have 120v power or are you going to have to be self contained?  If you have consistent, like permanently hooked up at a campground for power you might be able to survive. but it probably won't be exactly comfortable. If you need to be self contained and live off battery and propane it's going to get difficult pretty quickly.  If you are self contained and your temps regularly drop below freezing or stay below freezing you will probably have only one nights heat before the battery is depleted. And you will probably be burning through a tank of propane every few days.

Back to your original question. the problem with RV's is they are really only 3 season campers. The pipes are usually exposed to the cold under the trailer. Also the insulation in the walls is so thin that pipes running inside the cabinets but near the exterior walls can freeze. The fresh water inlet and the outdoor shower are going to freeze and crack unless you can find a way to heat them directly from inside the RV.
