Hope to get to Mobile or even Biloxi, MS tomorrow. I was stationed in Biloxi at Kessler AFB 51 years ago.

We'll be heading west from there... california in a couple of months... home in August
We hope to see some of you over the next 5 months.

Inquirees have made me think a bit...

and to share 2012 SPRING LOOP

the general plan... miss the tornados.... be home before the first of June

We are heading south thru Jimmy Carter country to Tallassee... and he coast... getting away from the middle America E/W interstates and the tornado alleys.

We'll be heading west and then down toward Brownsville... then follow the border to NM... North as far as rocky Mtn NP and then head east thru Nashville toward the end of May... we have never been inside the State Capital.

I'll be posting some as we go...

PS... the camperport did great in the storms, no damage that I can see... best $3500 I spent last year. I highly recommend it.

Sorry Reddog, just not enough time. Hope they will wonder back through some time when I can get away. Nice little trail that runs up the canyon to the top of the La Plata mountains and ends at just 12511 ft. Nice afternoon run once the snow comes off in late June. Hesperus Peak is 13,200 ft with the home place at a low 7500 ft.

Had a wonderful time visiting with Sleepy and his DW. Hope he enjoyed the farm and the view of the La Plata Mountains out the camper window.

They got a chance to meet Sarah (our sheep guardian) and her flock of Navajo Churro sheep. Lambs are a couple weeks old now and are full of life. Sarah does a pretty good job of keeping the bears and moutain lions out of the flock.

If they can make it back when I am not so busy irrigating and such, we will take some time off to run over to Moab, Ut and play a little with the jeeps.

Sleepy and Co, drive safe and we hope to make it to the east some year soon!!

Happy Trails to you!!

We are staying at a sheep ranch in Hesperus, Colorado tonight. One of our TC Forum members "SheepCamp" invited us to visit. He and his wife are very nice... so are all of the critters.

The view is breathtaking. Maybe he'll post a picture of the snow capped mountains to the north of his house.

They each have their own rock crawling Jeep... I hope they get out East someday. there are a few rocks to climb there... and we can repay their kindness.

We took a holiday.... We stayed at the Far View Lodge with all of the trimmings. A mothers day treat for my wife. (at 8147 feet elevation on her side of the bed)

Today we did everything BUT the tours.... it wiped us out. I have 12,924 steps on my pedometer... and a lot of driving. The air is thin, I am older...

Mesa Verde is beautiful, educational, interesting, and exhausting.

I saw several truck campers. No one that I met had ever been on the forum... all had questions.

We've had several invitations to visit and park... saddly we have been moving in different directions.

Tomorrow we are heading west, into AZ, then Utah, and LV... Nellis AFB...
time to see our great grandchild.

FREE.... NO Fee Campground...

We did the north rim of Canyon de Chelly on Tuesday... thought that we'd check the Park Service (federal) campground for a possible dump site to use before we head north to Monument Valley in a few days.

A sign at the gate said the whole campground is a "NO FEE AREA" donations accepted.

Better still... no ground fires (no smoke... for us asthmatics).

We now have 6 campground nights...

And we'll donate!

BTW... there is a limit on size which thw MH people choose to ignore... for entertainment... watch them leave after dark... with no where to go?????

Tomorrow... Canyon de Chilly and on to Monument Valley.

I narrowly missed going to Canyon de "shay" last fall when I was travelling from Window Rock north to Moab.....I sintead to BIA highway north that would be up on the plateau above CdeC. I boondocked on Indian Lands (by the suggestion of some residents) near a nice lake and wokeup to watch various families fishing the lake across the road. A really nice spot, but possibly against the rules of the Navajos - I heard here you need permission to camp on their land anywhere. No issues though....

Have fun Sleepy. Keep up the reports.
