Definitely a place to visit again.Re: Northstar 850 SC bathroom questionThe cassette toilet seat is too high in the 850Sc to use with the top down. That said, it is easy to put the top up and down when you have an emergencyRe: Finally , a pictureIn used the drag and past feature found in the Forum Tech Support. Finally , a picture This is my first try at loading a picture. This was the maiden voyage of our new pick-up carrying our camper. The 2014 GMC has a vertical rib that sticks out of the inside of the pick-up bed, just forward of the tailgate. We have to set the camper back 2 inches to accommodate the sub-wing.new truck for our Northstar 850SCWe have finally been able to replace our 2006 1/2 ton GMC with a 2014 3/4 GMC. Thanks to advice from Gordon at TCM during the Texas Rally, we made the plunge. We had beefed up the 1/2 ton with extra leafs and air bags but the tranny was giving us troubles on long hills. We are on our fourth pop-up pick-up camper. Each camper has been heavier. The Northstar 850sc is the best of the bunch and heaviest at 2300 lbs. (according to the Northstar label on the camper). We use our camper for travelling across country and for hunting in the Maine woods. This forum has been invaluable to us. Thanks One of these days I will figure out how to post a picture!!!Re: Pop-up lift options? We had a Palomino with an external crank. It was a pain to put down because we had to tuck the canvass in from the outside, especially in the rain. We were camped in a severe thunderstorm and didn't dare go out to put the top down. We now have a Northstar with an internal crank and a fan to suck the canvass in when lowering the top. Much nicer!!!!Re: TC Magazine Dodge 3500 gas engine road testI really appreciate the reports from TCM. Thanks Gordon and Angela.Re: under cabinet mount coffee makerWe use a small stove-top perculator from Cabellas. We tried one from wallyworld but the metal was thin and had sharp edges around the rim. So much for cheap.Re: Women and truck campersI used a Shadow Cruiser Pop-up P-U camper for many years in the north Maine woods for bird surveys. Never worried about being alone. I love camping by myself almost as much as with my husband. I have also camped alone at public campgrounds, always being mindful of personal safety. My biggest frustration is loading the blessed camper on the pick-up!!! I can do it but my husband does it soooo much easier. We also have a fifth wheel but I prefer the convenience of the p-u- camper.Re: First TC purchase, please adviseWe had a 2009 Bronco 1251B. Frankly, we hated it. Putting the 2 part door up in the rain is no fun. We put a lot of cauk on the seams but couldn't stop the leaks. We now have a Northstar 850SC. Big difference in quality. I'd look for a used Northstar, Hallmark or Outfitter and forget the Bronco.
